| Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in San Francisco that might let us stay 5 people in a room? My kids are 12, 9, and 4. Thanks. |

I don't have any specific recommendations for SFO, but I'm curious as to why you have to tell the hotel you have 5 people there? If you want a standard room, just book a standard room. If you want a bigger room or suite, just book it.
That said, I've noticed that you can choose the number of people per room when using Booking.com, but you end up having to pay for the extra person when you might've avoided doing so by just not bringing it to anyone's attention. |

Book two queen beds. If you can find a hotel with a couch, even better. Or try embassy suites.
|
| Many hotels will supply a rollaway for the 5th person at no additional charge. |
| Get an air bnb or vrbo apartment. You can get a 2 br apartment for the price of a nice hotel. |
This is what I would recommend as well. Plus you have a kitchen so you can stock drinks and snacks more easily. |

Hotel fire codes regarding maximum room occupancy vary based on fire exits, room size, etc. |
| Yes, I've been told by hotels that I could not stay in a regular room with 3 kids--even when one of the kids was under 3 and going to sleep in the bed with us. If you're going to sneak 5 into a regular room, don't all go to the check in desk. |
| We have 3 dc and always just book 1 room. Look for an Embassy suites or a hotel with 2 queens and a pullout couch. |
| Stay in a hotel in SoMa, rather than a hotel in Union Square. The US hotels tend to be smaller (older). |
| Look for a Courtyard Marriott and request 2 queens. They are super family friendly and will wither already have a sofa or sofabed in room or supply a trundle. |

Many, many years ago I livedaround the corner from this place - http://www.metrohotelsf.com
Looks like they have at least one room that sleeps 5. You'd be right in the middle of the city. |
+1 to airbnb. |
This. If you ask, I'm not sure there are (m)any standard rooms that allow 5 based on code. Better to "don't ask, don't tell" if you plan on putting 5 in a room. |
