I hate the Pioneer Woman's voice

I guess her food's okay. I like reading her blog more than hearing her annoying slow voice and her weird baby doll face.

That's all I wanted to say. Vent for the night. You?

My husband loses his mind when her show is on. He can't beleive she gets her own show and cooks nothing more exotic than quesidilla, brownies on a stick or vats of chilie to feed "hard working cowboys".. I will say this, her ranch house is awesome. Love that its so modern out on a ranch in OK.

Also can't stand Nicole's voice on "Rehab Addict"!

Did you see the ep in which she assembled turkey, ham, and cheese sandwiches to take to football practice? WTF, thanks for demonstrating that....could have never figured it out. She was even filmed painstakingly wrapping them.

She drives me nuts, too. Why does she have a show and now a Walmart commercial?

She doesn't even understand basic cooking: when she cooks tomato sauce in an iron skillet. Ugh that makes sauce taste metallic and gross.

She has the most basic stuff. Also most of it has SO many calories, you can only eat it if you've been rounding cattle for 12 hours.

Her food is gross, gross, gross. That fucker takes real food and midwestifies it (strips it of any interesting ingredients and adds like 2 cups of butter). Disgusting and bland and godawful for you.

Yet you all watch her.

Some serious hate going on here. I expect better from all you tolerant fems.

Yep. If I want two cups of butter, I will take Trisha Yearwood and Paula Dean.

Wait wait wait! What was in them? How do you make them? What if I want a pickle on the side?

I agree - fellow Conservative here. I would only watch it if she emerged from the kitchen with bruises, black eyes etc. like a real pioneer wife would have.

I tried to like her show but can't

I was a fan of her blog but grew kind of bored after a while. I still think she did a neat thing with the blog, though. I have never been a fan of her show, though. Too contrived.

She is a peculiar phenomena because her food isn't especially noteworthy. I have made a few things from her blog before she became insanely famous and they were just ok and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too sweet for my taste.

My guess is that her popularity is due to her being a safely aspirational role model for middle America. Affluent, but not in your face and her family obviously works hard at what they do (they may be worth millions and own one of the biggest ranches in the country but they still work the land themselves) and her style (clothing, housing) is many people aspire to and see themselves comfortably living with as opposed to the fussiness of Architectural Digest type interiors. When you get down to it, she's not that different from a Republican housewife with a McMansion in Great Falls transplanted to an Oklahoma ranch.

And her blog is endearingly positive and bright and cheerful. It's hard not to like her. And I respect that underneath the surface is a very bright woman with a keen understanding of marketing and building a brand.
