My guess is that her popularity is due to her being a safely aspirational role model for middle America. Affluent, but not in your face and her family obviously works hard at what they do (they may be worth millions and own one of the biggest ranches in the country but they still work the land themselves) and her style (clothing, housing) is many people aspire to and see themselves comfortably living with as opposed to the fussiness of Architectural Digest type interiors. When you get down to it, she's not that different from a Republican housewife with a McMansion in Great Falls transplanted to an Oklahoma ranch.

And her blog is endearingly positive and bright and cheerful. It's hard not to like her. And I respect that underneath the surface is a very bright woman with a keen understanding of marketing and building a brand. [/quote]
