| Could I take pita bread or something like that, smear tomato sauce on it, sprinkle mozzarella cheese over that, and bake the whole thing like pizza? Would that come out right? Right enough? |
English muffin pizza worked great when I was a kid I am sure this could work too. |
| Sure! Serious Eats has a great "recipe" for bar-style tortilla pizza. |
| We did english muffin pizzas as kids too. |
|
Sure! It's not gonna be as good as pizza crust, but it will do the trick.
Incidentally, if you have some flour, yeast, and a half hour to kill, making genuine pizza dough is soooooo easy and so good. |
I have literally never bought those two ingredients. ONCE I bought sugar. |
| The pita is cooked so I would use the broiler to cook the topping. |
I promise, it's so easy. I always had to go out to buy yeast but I think it's less than a buck for the packet. You mix them together with water and some sugar if you wnat, let it rise for 30 minutes, and spread it over a pan. It's so damn easy. I always though making a pizza would be hard |
| I make my own pizza dough. I am no wizard. It takes three minutes. |
I started baking when I was 8. |
Not OP. Did you like this? When I tried it, it was not even good. My tortillas may have sucked, though. |
| I make pita pizza all the time. It's great for when I crave pizza but want portion control. There are also flatbreads (I like the one by Flatout) made for this purpose. But I like a very thin crackery crust so it is perfect for me. |

You could use a loaf of French bread. I love french bread pizza.
I bake occasionally and my pizza dough NEVER comes out right. It tastes like a cracker. Go with the French bread and save yourself the headache. |
| You can buy pizza crust (without toppings) at the store. Will be better than the pita. |
PP. I like it a lot. We usually have it as a late-night snack, not dinner, so that might color my taste buds.
