I own one of the affected vehicles. Does anyone have advice on how to be part of a class action lawsuit? Or do you think I will be contacted by lawyers in due time? |
I would expect to be contacted by attorneys. |
VWofA hq is in herndon. Just pop on over and demand a new compliant car.

Call these guys and ask to speak to an attorney regarding the Volkswagen consumer fraud. They are really really good at this stuff.

Just interested, how were you harmed in this? |
Not OP but I have two good friends who are affected. One of my friends went in wanting a hybrid and ended up with a TDI instead after believing VW's spiel about their "clean diesel." The required "fix" to this issue is likely to adversely affect the performance, efficiency and resale value of their vehicles. http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-volkswagen-probe-20150918-story.html |
It's pretty obvious that VW owners were harmed in this. If they had known about the car's true performance and emissions at the time of purchase, they might have bought a different vehicle, but VW actively lied to them and caused them to purchase a car that didn't actually exist as described. The resale value of these cars has taken a big hit in the last week. And face it, VW has been aware of this issue for over a year and tried to fix it before admitting to the defeat device because the EPA was breathing down their necks--if they haven't come up with a solution yet, it's almost certainly because they've figured out that bringing the cars into compliance will do significant damage to the performance, which is definitely a harm to the consumer, who will now have a much crappier car than the one he thought he was buying. I hope VW is taken to the cleaners over this. The breadth of the scam they've been running is jaw-dropping. |
The resale value is destroyed. Plus there is the shame of driving around a fraud. |
I chose the VW diesel specifically for emissions reasons. I'm pretty pissed. |
The study about VW came out over a year ago. I am buying one in 6 months because I don't care. Your outrage is bizarre to me! |
Class action lawsuits really only benefit the lawyers. You will see very little in terms of monetary compensation. |

Says the class action dense lawyer / tort reform lobbyist.
