I own one of the affected vehicles. Does anyone have advice on how to be part of a class action lawsuit? Or do you think I will be contacted by lawyers in due time?
Just interested, how were you harmed in this?
It's pretty obvious that VW owners were harmed in this. If they had known about the car's true performance and emissions at the time of purchase, they might have bought a different vehicle, but VW actively lied to them and caused them to purchase a car that didn't actually exist as described. The resale value of these cars has taken a big hit in the last week. And face it, VW has been aware of this issue for over a year and tried to fix it before admitting to the defeat device because the EPA was breathing down their necks--if they haven't come up with a solution yet, it's almost certainly because they've figured out that bringing the cars into compliance will do significant damage to the performance, which is definitely a harm to the consumer, who will now have a much crappier car than the one he thought he was buying. I hope VW is taken to the cleaners over this. The breadth of the scam they've been running is jaw-dropping.
