| Hi .... I'm looking for hear from people who have put their children in the PEERS social program ... have you done it? Did it have an impact? In what way? Were the results lasting? How is this more effective than traditional social skills groups? And what were the participants like? ANY information on your experience would be so helpful. Thank you! |
| No one???? |
| I think there aren't many people on this board who have kids old enough for the PEERS group. I love Dr. Black and so I would guess that anything he does is well done. |
Agree, the youngest age for Peers is middle school. As soon as DS is old enough, we plan on enrolling him. |
| Does anyone find it a conflict of interest that once David Black evaluates your child, he refers them to his psychologist wife for treatment? "Oh, I think weekly therapy is definitely what YOUR child needs." But everyone who comes through that office ends up there. I guess if she's great, that's fine, but I would like a choice of therapists or suggestions for ones that are more suited to my child. |
He evaluated my child and never mentioned his wife. |
Same and he never brought up PEERs probably bc my child is too young. He did refer us to a great psychiatrist (no relation) who we love. |
Same. He recommended a few other psychiatrists. We have stayed in touch with him just because we like to talk to him now and then. He's an insightful guy, and has never pushed his own services to us. |
