Gross bathrooms can be found worldwide. So can nice, clean ones.

Women bathrooms in high end hotels can be worse. Four out of 5 toilets are not flushed. I don’t want to describe other disgusting surprises.
|
| I used to use an outhouse regularly at the local church. Any indoor plumbing seems pretty nice. |
| I remember using some public bathrooms in Italy that were essentially rooms with a drain to squat over. That was a long time ago, though. |
| Barbaric. A little dramatic, don't you think? |
It's the same now. Was there 2 weeks ago and encountered that in several very nice cafes. American bathrooms are generally kind of middle of the pack to me. They're no Japan but there's worse out there. |
|
I've encountered the squat toilets with the hole in the ground in France at several places with blobs of someone's feces sitting on the porcelain on the ground.
American toilets and bathrooms are luxurious. |
|
Our bathrooms are free in the US.
You pay to use a bathroom in Europe if you can even find one. |
This is DCUM, where overreaction thrives. |
All these European squat-toilets make me not want to visit there. |

Being a guy, I find using public toilets to pee ok but not for pooping. Most cubicles are small, dirty and smelly. It was the same during school, although they were usually clean. Holding it in all day wasn’t very practical, so I started taking nullo tablets and wearing black pants. It’s also important to wear good underwear.
If you don’t like using public toilets, it’s an alternative. |
| I don't know if you know, but most of American culture is barbaric. |
Never leave your basement, eh? As for OP, I remember the first time I saw a public urinal in France. Whoa! And, of course, the common practice of young French boys peeing in public. |
|
I am half European and I would rank US public bathrooms solidly in the upper half comparaitively. The minimum standard here is a lot higher than the minimum standard elsewhere.
That is about the nicest thing I'll say about the US these days. |
What does this even mean? |
