It's a certain meat you associate with the holidays and with the dressing etc. You can get over it very easily by the new year and not care about tasting it again in roasted bird form until the next holiday season. But sliced deli turkey is very good protein for sandwiches all year long. They are not the same thing, though, anymore than a hamburger is the same thing as a steak |

Turkey has never been a Christmas tradition in our family.
I think most people who celebrate Christmas have meal traditions that are more about where the family came from: British, Italians, Poles, Hungarians, etc., all have different food traditions surrounding Christmas meals. We usually have a variety of traditional ethnic foods based on which part of the famliy is coming to dinner. Feast of the Seven Fishes for the Italians in Christmas Eve, beigli and roast with fish stew for the Hungarian side, ham was the tradition for th e Irish side of the family, and we had goose when celbrating with British friends, etc. |
| We are doing duck this year. |
Yum! We do filet mignon but elk would be awesome. |
| What about cornish hens? |
We are not doing turkey but some traditional sides. Doing variety of other proteins to cater to our different tastes. |
