I’ll go to my grave defending her. It’s well known that fine dining pairs wine and food for a reason - the acidity and tannins of the wine make the food taste better. So wanting lemon water or a flavored seltzer or soda is totally sensible.

NOPE. I don't want people to top off my drinks without asking. Huge waste. they can ask me if I want more, but absolutely don't just add to my drink. ESPECIALLY NOT COFFEE.

Madam, I do my job well. Today during my lunch shift I provided 7 diet coke refills to a gentleman who was very thirsty. Plus provided one to go. Because this is a slow time that was easily done. Of course good servers strive to provide excellent service, including drink refills!

My point is if you drink your beverage at such an excessively quick rate, and I happen to be busy, you may have to wait a moment.

I have no problem waiting at all. I said I expect my server to periodically check my drink. That’s not excessive and I’m not watching a clock. I do mind if my whole meal goes by and I don’t get a refill on my drink. That’s poor service. It does happen and at more than one restaurant.

We only have one size glass. And bringing 2 at a time would imply that the person is consuming their beverage at an excessive rate. Would be impolite.
