Do you keep your car past 100k miles?

10 years is when we send cars on, regardless of mileage. Cars of full of seals,hoses, other internal plastic widgets critical to engine, transmission, ventilation and braking. Those items degrade in function due to passage of time. speaking to OP need for reliability.

100k miles?!?!?! That’s nothing. I keep all my cars to 200k. I have a long commute, so the miles pile up. I’m trying to get a car to 300k, but haven’t been able to yet.

Sadly I’ve never had a Honda make it past about 160k before becoming unreliable, and we’re excellent with maintenance.

That’s surprising. What year/model and what problems did you have? My two Hondas (221k and 175k) are still running fine.

93 civic 169k, engine was fine, transmission started to have issues and there were electrical issues that nobody could figure out that stranded us several times. First gen crv, no engine or transmission issues, but air conditioning and abs crapped out at 150k and wasn’t worth the money to repair. Plus it was woefully underpowered. I did love that car though. Our 2013 Accord had a bunch of small issues, left me stranded a few times, but nothing catastrophic. Kid got in an accident and it wasn’t the same after that, rattles and wind noise so we sold it. Our 2018 CRV had the transmission go at 120k miles. Looking back on this, the engines have been great; it’s the rest of the car that has let us down. My buddy did have his civic die on him from a cracked engine block; apparently that was a known issue for those years. That being said, I still like them well enough to keep buying them, but once a car leaves me stranded once or twice it’s a goner.

I traded in just shy of 300K, still running. I wish I was there to see the odometer roll past it.

We get rid of our cars every three years. We never buy american, only foreign.

I've kept multiple cars past 100k miles. But these days, we drive so little that it would take around 18-20 years to hit 100k (and those are hard miles), so it's unlikely going forward. Maybe when we retire and are driving more.

I haven’t had a car past 50k miles in my adult life. May also have no desire to drive a 10 year old car. However, a Lexus with 100k miles is probably just fine just very outdated.

I like not having a car payment so I drive my cars as long as possible.

That's crazy because seals and hoses can be changed out easily.
