I like not having a car payment so I drive my cars as long as possible. |
I aim for 300000 miles. |
Really? What went on them? I know someone who had their honda to 350,000! |
Yes of course. It's a waste of money not to. |
That's crazy because seals and hoses can be changed out easily. |
Getting rid of a Lexus at 100k is a complete waste of money. I would buy it from you and drive another 100k miles. And a new car can be unreliable. |
A Lexus - yes. That is presumably one reason you bought it. I have a 2004 LX 450 SUV. We’ve gotten every service since we bought it - initially at the Lexus dealership, then at Toyota dealership, and now at a local Toyota tech garage.
It has 250+ miles and It runs fine Other than the faded and scratched black paint in places and limited technology (although it was ahead of the pack in its day). DH drives it locally but we don’t travel in it. It’s a lot more sturdy than my 2019 luxury SUV. We leased an 2000 RX for 4 years before we bought it and we’re still seeing those on the road. |
We had a Prius that went to 240K miles. That car saved us a lot of money. Back in the 80's we had a Ford Escort that only made it to 70K miles. It was a real piece of junk. Don't sell a car (especially a Lexus) just because it has 100K miles on it. Every extra mile you get out of it is money in the bank, even if you have to put on new tires or do a brake job. Much cheaper than getting a new car if you can get another 100K of miles. |
Spouse and I are not wasteful. We have two old cars we maintain that both have over 175,000 miles on them.
Keep your car OP. |
If you take care of it, that GX will run another 100k miles easy. |
If you simply write a check for the car you also don’t have payments. |
