Graying hair is very aging IMO. I have about 15% gray with medium brown hair and I dye my roots. I have olive skin and look younger for my age. I'm not ready to age myself with gray hair.
Covering your roots at home is pretty easy. I go to a salon because they do a better job and I hate doing it myself but I have when I couldn't get a convenient appt. DCUM leans very natural/no make-up/ frumpy but I value my looks and I'm just being real- until you're ready to embrace looking older color your hair |
| I am an NP with fine straight brown hair. My grays are really coming in now, but they are frizzy and stick out from my head when I put my hair up. Would dye change my gray hair texture to make my hair lay flat? |
No, but your grey strands will be less noticeable if they stick out but are the same color as the rest. |
| Im 47 and like you with a handful of grays. I do a demi rinse, which is much easier to maintain. I'll dye eventually, though. I don't think I'd look good with gray hair. |
I started going gray in my early twenties. It runs in my family. I’ve been coloring my hair for decades. |
NP - I'm 51 and that's what I do, too. I get it done every eight weeks or so. It's worked very well for my hair. I'm 51 - a little gray, but not a ton. I don't mind when a few strands start showing through - it keeps my hair from looking too flat and unnatural. It has helped with taming some frizz/flyaway nonsense. I don't know if I'll do a full dye eventually. Probably? |
What do you use for a demi rinse? How long does it last? |
I don't know the brand - I get it done at the salon! If you ask your hairdresser about a demi gloss and they should be able to help you |
Can you people hear yourselves? Just because *you* didn't have grey hair until you were 35 doesn't mean it doesn't happen. My mom started going grey at 19 and was fully silver by 35. |
PP is saying it looks weird to have a dark all over color when you're over 30. My hair is brown. I did not start getting any grey til I was 35. Was I supposed to start dying my hair blonde when I turned 30 because dark hair magically starts looking weird. It is YOU who is making no sense. |
And I quote: "Gray looks worse. And people seriously go gray at 30? Didn't notice my first gray until late 40s." |
