Technically not just plaid but tartan, right? My brother is an alum and loved that. |

Not surprisingly, RISD has a highly detailed explanation of its logo, color, typeface/font, etc:

They did that a while back. Most of the combo's were terrible. |
That was fun! (But I'm someone who thinks university branding sites are interesting in general.) |

I like the old-timey colors and patterns. Like Harvard. Crimson with an H. Simple. Notre Dame with the gold and blue. You know what's what with these schools and there are a gazzilion years of history behind it.
The University of Maryland color scheme is an abomination to all that is good and decent in this world. |
You and I have very different tastes. I love Virginia Tech’s distinctive color scheme, but think Maryland’s 4 colors are garish. |
University of North Dakota is also pink & green. (Green for the green prairies & pink for rosy prospects.) The colors were chosen by the students in 1889. |

I agree with the earlier post about UNC. That shade of blue is so unique that you immediately know it's a Tarheel.
Same with UT Austin. Just seeing that burnt orange tells you immediately that it's a Longhorn. |
|
UNC is indeed iconic.
Clemson when you add in the Regalia/Purple with Orange is pretty unique. |

Washington
Purple and Gold |
Totally agree. I hate UMD’s garish color scheme. It’s on their license plates too - so ugly. |
| Tennessee orange. |
Hardly unique. |
You need a chart for all the football games, sometimes it’s also black, white, stripes. Buy a lot of Nike gear! |
Harvard challenged Fordham over who got to use the school colors and lost. Of course they didn’t drop them but they should only wear all white as far as I am concerned. |
