Changing all the locks in new house?

My dad changed mine for free. I can also do this myself. It’s actually pretty easy

Question- if you move to a new house and want to install a smart lock, do you still need to get it rekeyed or the lock replaced? Or does that become irrelevant with the smart lock?

If the smart lock doesn’t have a key option, the new owner just changes the code.

Even if there is a key option, there would be no reason to give 3rd parties a key to your house since you would also give them a code (which you then change).

I guess you just have to trust the sellers didn’t keep a spare…probably want to rekey for good measure.

We did. We actually knew the previous owners and trust them…but we don’t know their dog walker or house cleaner etc.
