I think this is like asking a man if he likes thinner women. Why do most men find thin women more attractive than fat ones? |
I am a 6' tall woman. My husband is 3 inches shorter and before that I dated men as short as 5'5". I am more concerned with other personality characteristics. Height does not factor into my attractiveness calculation. I find people who refuse to date someone shorter to be overly shallow. |
Nah. They're the same. |
His wife is definitely obese but he is that much underweight though. In some countries that height/weight combo is not insulated at all. As Americans I must say we have a unique view of normal body weight to be honest. |
Yes, undoubtedly. |
Jack Sprat could eat no fat; his wife could eat no lean. Between them both, you see, they licked the platter clean. |
A long sentence to say Americans are fat. 6'0" 140 lbs is a BMI of 19, WHICH IS A NORMAL BMI. That poster is NORMAL. He thinks he's thin because other people (his wife, for example) are fat. Dear Lord. |
Because typically thinner women are healthier. |
Personally, no.
I'm 5'4" and my ideal height for men is 5'7" to 5'9". I have dated men as short as I am and it was fine. (Haven't really met any who are shorter). I have also dated men taller than 5'9" and didn't really care for it. I will absolutely swipe left on anyone over 5'11". (I'm sure if I met a 6 footer IRL and we hit it off it wouldn't be a deal breaker, but online I will filter out super tall men). I know that my preference is not shared by the majority though. (I also find a full head of hair to be a turnoff). |
I’m a 6 foot woman and apparently overly shallow, but I’m happy with my 6’3’ husband. I felt bad about not being attracted to men shorter than me, but found I wasn’t able to compromise that when dating. I have no defense about my preference except it was definitely a high priority when considering men to date. Luckily, I’ve been married 16 years so my shallowness worked out for me. |
Short men are not typically less healthy compared to tall men though. In fact I believe shorter people tend to live longer (too lazy to find the source but it's out there). |
140# is really really skeletal for a 6’ tall male. His doctor likely has a Dx for why. It’s not normal and hard in the organs in different ways than obesity is. I assume he takes protein shakes or has a metabolism Rx |
I dated men shorter, same height, taller, much taller. I came to prefer someone at least three inches taller. I am 5'6". My husband is 5'10", not super tall, but tall enough that I can wear any heel height. For me it was always more about their overall build, ie, mesomorphic. I had two good friends, sisters, who were 5 feet tall and wanted a shorter mate and they married shorter, great looking guys. There's a lid for every pot. |
I actually find very tall men UNattractive. If they're skinny, they look gangly, all arms and legs. If they're even a bit overweight, they're just massive people.
My sweet spot is like 5'6" to 5'8". I'm okay down to 5'3" and up to 5'10". |
Same, right down to the stats you quote! But my one other major ex was short. I really don’t care about height and I know plenty of women who feel the same way. I also know a lot of very successful short guys. I’ve always thought it is weird when women demand a guy be over 6 feet, unless she herself is very tall. I truly don’t get it. |
