Trying to quit butter

What is your favorite "buttery" spread?
Anonymous
I buy the Olivio spread but would never ever give up butter. EVER.

I use smart balance in both spreadable and stick form. I know that the stick form is not healthy, but at least it's better than margarine. Can't imagine what that fake stuff does to your body!

We just quit butter stuff all together.
Kids are growing up without knowing it exists.

Oooooh. I could never give up butter! Have you tried using smaller quantities?

What's wrong with butter? It's delicious and natural and people have been eating it for hundreds of years.

We've eaten Brummel & Brown's spread for years...I do use real butter for baking/cooking, though.

Earth Balance.

OP, why are you giving up butter? This cookbook, Nourishing Traditions, argues that butter is much healthier than most alternatives.

(sorry that's so long, i don't know how to shrink URLs)

We don't eat butter because we have diary allergies. But if not for that, we'd definitely eat butter. I love butter!

Earth Balance tastes good, but it has soy in it, and I don't trust soy. I've read too many articles questioning the heath value of soy as we eat it here in the U.S. In Asia, the soy they eat is fermented, and they eat a relatively small amount of it. We use coconut oil in baking and olive oil in cooking.

Everything in moderation. Butter is good for you. I'd rather have something natural in my system than something processed with who knows what.

OP, it's not crack, it is butter. How much butter could you be using that you need to replace it with something else? Natural is always the way to go

Why is there SO MUCH JUDGING here. I am the OP, and my health is at risk, due to my high cholesterol. And WHO CARES....why I want to not eat butter. My statement was "Trying to quit butter", so for the poster who was assuring me that it isn't crack....I KNOJW THAT. and STOP IT. Hope you don't do that to your friends and family!

It's not judging, OP. Butter is all natural, no chemicals. The fake stuff is just that, fake. You ever see what margarine looks like before it's all melded together - it's got something like 3 layers to it. why not just cut back to half of what you consume, or eliminate it all together? You can't really substitute it in most recipes with margarine. You could try using low fat cream cheese or jelly/jam on your toast. Or try nothing at all. sorry about your high cholesterol, but a tblspoon of butter isn't going to hurt you.

No one is judging you and yes I would say the same to my family and friends because I love them and prefer they not put artificial crap in their bodies.
