google classroom

Anyone know how to get to the google classroom site at home. My child knows the login and password but not how to start.

Go to classroom.google.com. Their account is the student id with @mcpsmd.net on the end

There is a google classroom app. (I'm an MCPS teacher- when I sign into my MCPS Google account, I click on the icon that looks like tiles and then select "more" to access the app.)

Your child's teachers can either invite their student to join their classes or they can give the kids a registration code.

My DD needs to do all her homework through Google classroom. I cannot accept this. She always engages in the computer and I cannot follow whether she is actually studying or gaming. There has not been any explanation from the teacher yet. Is it common in the MCPS elementary school?

My son and everyone in his non-MCPS school do all of their class and home work on Chromebooks in Google classroom. I'm not sure why you can't accept this. What grade is your daughter in?

Apparently they also have gmail accounts all last year that I assume were used at school. Would have been nice to know about that as well.

I think the implementation of this depends on the school. Don't all 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades have chrome books now? Last year my son had used a chrome book for assignments but not google classrooms. This year, in 4th, everything is on it. Given that they are not teaching typing yet (though they aren't teaching script anymore) I am concerned that they put the cart before the horse a bit. I wish I had had my son take a typing course this summer...

Goggle classrooms are pretty cool. You can see a list of assignments and due dates for all the classrooms. But as a parent, I need to check DS' account daily to see what is due and when. He is too young and inexperienced to know how to plan a long-term assignment. I do wish I had view access to his assignments tab but I just log into his account daily and check it out.

Then go into his gmail account and set it to forward a copy to your email address. You will see all the notes and posts from the teacher.

It was on the news and MCPS website.

How do you set it to forward emails? I looked around the account but there is no "forward" option.

I have the same problem.

Yes but there are no details. Also not clear what the 4th graders were using this for.

Go into their gmail account- not on the classroom site. Don't you people have email yourselves? No wonder you are scared of technology.

+1

And wtf the people who "cannot accept" the way that MCPS does assignments on the computer. Try actually supervising your children when they're doing their homework or try using tech to block unwanted sites. Parents probably made the same complaints when they moved from slates to paper. "I don't know whether he's writing his rote times tables or making paper airplanes!!"

The gmail accounts for google classroom only work with other google classroom accounts.
