When officials say the quiet part about Russia and NATO out loud
https://responsiblestatecraft.org/russia-ukraine-nato-expansion/ Was the invasion about the alliance's expansion to Moscow's doorstep? Depends on who's telling the story. From the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we’ve been told that the issue of NATO expansion is irrelevant to the war, and that anyone bringing it up is, at best, unwittingly parroting Kremlin propaganda, at worst, apologizing for or justifying the war. So it was curious to see NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg earlier this month say explicitly that Russian president Vladimir Putin launched his criminal war as a reaction to the possibility of NATO expanding into Ukraine, and the alliance’s refusal to swear it off — not once or twice, but three separate times. “President Putin declared in the autumn of 2021, and actually sent a draft treaty that they wanted NATO to sign, to promise no more NATO enlargement,” Stoltenberg told a joint committee meeting of the European Parliament on September 7. “That was what he sent us. And [that] was a pre-condition for not invade [sic] Ukraine. Of course we didn't sign that.” |

NATO isn't "expanding". Russia is "contracting".
"Russia’s Ministry of Labour has requested 230,000 certificates for family members of deceased combat veterans and over 750,000 certificates for combat veterans" "This is many times more than before. In May, the department ordered the printing of almost 100 thousand certificates of combat veterans and over 23 thousand certificates for family members of the deceased. Last summer, the Ministry of Labor signed a contract to print more than 82 thousand forms of certificates for combat veterans and about six thousand certificates for family members of the deceased." "Last summer, the Labour Ministry signed a contract for the printing of over 82,000 blank combat veteran certificates and nearly 6,000 certificates for family members of deceased soldiers." https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2023/09/18/7420328/ Once this information gets spread around (and I'm sure it's already in the grapevine through relatives in the US), the Russian Government will begin to fragment, eventually into total collapse. And it's not just my opinion either. This is why I think Solovyov was so morose the other day. And it's not just Solovyov either. "Igor Girkin, a former FSB operative, said he believes Russia is on the eve of collapse." "Russia's "troubles" will soon enter a "terminal stage" that will usher in a collapse of the entire system." https://www.yahoo.com/news/imprisoned-russian-ultranationalist-claims-putins-232017603.html Things are already falling apart within Russia. They can't even maintain 'high security' areas well anymore. "The incident caused major hysteria in the top military command: government planes, the so-called ‘judgement day planes’ and special aircraft (reconnaissance aircraft) are stationed at this airbase." "unknown individuals planted explosives at a thoroughly guarded airbase and blew up an AN-148 and an IL-20 aircraft (both belong to the 354 special purpose air regiment), as well as a MI-28H helicopter which was actively involved in shooting down drones above Moscow Oblast before." https://www.yahoo.com/news/unknown-saboteurs-blow-two-aircraft-084912599.html And news from the front lines just gets worse and worse every day. "during the day of 17 September, the total losses of the Russians on the Tavriia front increased sharply and amounted to 313 people. Before that, the number was around 200 casualties for three days in a row. On Sunday, the Russians also lost 1.5 times more equipment than usual – 31 pieces. Among them are four artillery guns, an anti-aircraft defence device and three pieces of special equipment." https://www.yahoo.com/news/russian-losses-increase-sharply-tavriia-174546779.html "35 Russian artillery systems and 520 personnel have been eliminated over the past 24 hours" https://www.yahoo.com/news/russia-loses-35-enemy-artillery-082700659.html I still like Solovyov's comment from yesterday. I think he's summed up the Russian situation up quite well. I'll repost that part since DCUMS seems to have 'lost' it. [2:20 / 8:37] "When you look at what is happening right now and see the armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine, not in terms like a special military operation, but you see it completely differently. You see it as an abysmal confrontation between absolute evil and absolute depravity; versus the absolute heights of the human spirit." https://youtu.be/-vyWogeXw9I [7:03 / 8:37] And I'm impressed by his iPhone 15 Pro Max, though. Protective case and everything. That's like 135,000 Roubles? But he's using it at work, so does that mean he's taking personal texts on-air? Curious. "A ban is imposed on using (Apple) mobile devices - smartphones and tablets - to access work applications and work email exchange," https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russian-...=Aug%2011%20(Reuters)%20%2D%20Russia's,citing%20the%20minister%2C%20Maksut%20Shadaev. |

BREAKING: Poland's PM says the country is no longer arming Ukraine
😂 😂 😂 😂 Ukraine’s biggest backers in the eu got turned off by the charms of Z |
NP. This sounds like some Cold War propaganda lingo |
Yep they are the Turks of the west, always haggling and nagging for more money |
Russia mass bombing Syrian civilians wasn’t funny it was horrific. My friend was working for Doctors with Borders in Syria at the time and they were shocked that Russia even targeted their modest make shift hospitals. The US was not bombing innocents in Syria and many Western countries would have been happy for a change in the brutal leadership. The US is far from perfect because no person or country is. It has made mistakes. But its failings do not compare to the atrocities and war crimes carried out by Putin and his cronies. |
Note to Ukraine don’t try to enter a trade war with the countries you rely on for military support. Not a good look. |
"A drowning person is extremely dangerous because he can pull you to the depths. He can drown the rescuer. Ukraine is behaving like a drowning person clinging to everything he can, but we have the right to defend ourselves against harm being done to us." A quote from the Polish President. I'm sure he's a Russian bot/troll/MAGA too... |
You think that's a bad quote? Ukraine IS desperate, and Poland DOES need to be careful. You, on the other hand, remain profoundly simple-minded and ignorant. |
omg https://www.npr.org/2022/01/13/1072735380/journalist-says-u-s-air-war-against-isis-killed-countless-civilians-in-syria |
That’s horrific yet still not as bad as directly targeting hospitals and apartment buildings just to terrorize the population. How can you not see that? |
There was never any threat to attack or invade Russia. That's Putin fiction. He's just mad that he isn't being allowed to invade his neighbors. |
The article is talking about civilians dying as collateral damage, particularly in the case of ISIS who is known to use civilians as hostages and human shields, all of which is horrific but let's talk about scale - Syrian civilian deaths at the hands of US forces is in the dozens, Syrian civilian deaths at the hands of Assad and Russia is in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS. So try again. Russia still comes out far far worse. |
Poland is in the right. Poland doesn’t need to tank its economy because of Ukraine. The Polish are members of both NATO and the EU. Ukraine is the one that DOES need to be careful to not alienate key friends. |
I don't know what he did, or what is triggering this, but you can sense a seismic shift against Ukraine. Here's Germany's Baerbock: "we don’t support this, and I have made it clear to my Ukrainian partners time and again.” The diplomat noted that while Berlin sympathizes with the Ukrainian people, “it is not that we support everything that comes out of Ukraine from the government.” Its the "time and again" part that should cause concern. It really does seem like they are getting tired of Ukraine. |
