| Do you just wait until it looks their toes are hitting the edge or do you go to get them sized at a certain frequency? |
| When they outgrow them. If I see a good deal I will get the next size up and put them away. |
| At that age I popped into Stride Rite to get them measured pretty much whenever I was at the mall but at least every 3 months. When my daughter was 2 she grew two whole shoe sizes in 3 months once. |
| It was about every three months. Definitely buy them a half size big. |
| If they are hitting my the edge, they are way too small. My 22 month old has gone through three sizes in the past 4 months. |
| I did summer, fall, spring shoe buying, which worked out to be every four months or so. |
That seems a bit excessive. |
I agree. We buy them slightly big and they last 6 months. We basically buy winter shoes and summer shoes. |
| At 2, you should be able to make it at least 6 months or more without buying a new size. I bought new sneakers for my 2+ YO in late winter, and finally bought him a new pair of sneakers this month. One foot hadn't sized out yet, but the shoes were looking pretty rough. We went through sizes much more frequently when he was smaller. |

I do it by seasons unless there is a reason to replace sooner.
Spring: "nice" sneakers Summer: waterproof hiking sandals Fall: sneakers again Winter: waterproof boots We are very outdoorsy and want them to have appropriate outdoor footwear, and getting sneakers in the off-seasons means that we always have some fairly plain leather shoes they can wear for a more dressy outing like church. |
| When I can't shove her feet into her shoes. |
| My kid was 18 mos and 20 mos (and wearing a 5.5 or so) when I bought her 6s, 7s and 8s at TotSwap last Sept and Dec. She is just now, a year later, able to fit in the 7s. I thought her feet would never grow. Maybe she'll have some crazy growth spurts soon, or maybe she'll end up with smallish feet like me, but I was starting to worry! |
|
I do it by season as well, and ive never had her feet measured.
I put her foot in and if it feels comfortable to her and i can feel her toes arent at the end of the shoes then they fit imo. DD is 3 |
| About every four months at that age, but it wasn't always even growth. |
