| We are new to Chesterbrook elementary in McLean (just moved here several months ago). We are surprised that we still haven't heard anything from the school regarding class placement/teacher assignment. Are there any Chesterbrook parents on this forum that can shed some light as to when they will announce this? At our previous school, we found out at the meet and greet before school started, but we weren't sure whether Chesterbrook had one of those. Thanks so much! |
| Have you checked with the school? Our school is advising us on the evening of 2 September, with our meet and greet to follow on the 3rd. |

There is usually an Open House the Friday before school starts. In the past, they have posted the class lists at the school the night before at COB. The PTA has a new family coffee after school has started. I would call the office.

| Yes, will be posted 5pm Thursday, with the open house on Friday. Check website for the times for your grades. |
| Thanks so much for the info! I don't know why it didn't occur to me to call the school as well - just got off the phone with them and they said the same info that you all posted. Thank you again! |

I was a long term sub there.
You are going to love it. Great teachers. Nice kids. |
Nice kids? Because of what? Rich white people? Please.... |
Don't make this about race. She said that she was a long term sub. That means that she has interacted with the students and has had experiences that has led her to believe that they are nice. |
Remind us again the demographic that attends? You can say great teachers but saying nice kids eludes to low amount of minorities and poverty. |
So white kids can't be nice? Kids whose families are above the poverty line can't be nice? Whatever!

I think you were the one who made the connections there, which may or may not have been intended by the PP. It honestly just makes you seem silly and hyper defensive. All the poster said was that the kids were nice. |

<< Nice kids? Because of what? Rich white people? Please.... >>
You, again. |
| Wow. Ridiculous mindset to conclude that telling a new parent at an elementary school there's "nice kids" there is all of a sudden a commentary on race and class. WTF? |
| The class list is now on the school website FYI |
That was me. Maybe they were nice because I was nice to them. Perhaps you have a different experience with people? Hmm... They were polite, empathetic, confident, inclusive, sweet, generous and funny. If I had to move to a new community, I'd like to land in one like that. My kids got to know some of the students from community things like the pool, camp and sports. The Chesterbrook kids were very friendly and helped my kids to meet others right away. Since the OP was concerned about her child adjusting, I'd say, jump in. No reason why you should not expect the experience to be a great one. |
