I think this got lost in the late night comments. Is this legit?

When this gets posted from a reputable source and not just a document link, I'll have more faith. Has anyone seen this on a legit league or state website, let alone on an official US Soccer site (website, facebook, instagram page run by US Soccer)?

Not sure about this memo (looks real, sounds real -- OR the best trolling, I guess!), but the WSSL Facebook page is legit, so unless that league was trying to mislead people (why would they?) And what the WSSL shared via MSYSA would fit what the new memo outlines.

Haha. Lol. You trust that blurry FB post over this document in the link?

They don't contradict each other. They both say no change for 25, just the wording for 26 is definitive in the document and left open ended in the Facebook post.

What is even more telling is the members who want to stick with BY the driving factor was dealing with the change, specifically the tech platforms. Wow, so a few lines of code in Got Soccer, league apps, PlayMetrics, etc. are the major obstacles? Further, they thank everyone but ECNL, which is also very telling and open to a lot of speculation.

I'm not sure you understand what the word "majority" means.

The USYNT can stay BY without affecting anyone else. Those teams are already put by players of various ages.

If ECNL's primary focus is college placement, aligning to SY makes the most sense but it will not affect rosters very much hence the idea that they can be the first to switch.

For competitive travel, SY would likely have the biggest impact on rosters so that transition would be tougher/longer if they choose to change.

Rec would most likely prefer SY as well because of the same-grade, friends and community focused participation.

Allowing a year time for everyone to plan and communicate is very reasonable. There is no reason to believe that this change would have been forced on everyone within months time for the next season.
This ^^^^ LFG. Time to move forward. Socialization of the implementations plan is the next step

Anonymous wrote:Assuming the US soccer document is legit. How does the decision of 8/1 vs 9/1 work? Take northern VA 9/1 would make the most sense. Who sets that? NCSL, ECRL? Virginia youth soccer?

Not Virginia Youth Soccer. That’s under the USYSA umbrella. It’ll be US Club soccer or whatever league your kid is in

Right so take a club. Their top team plays ECRL, the lower teams play NCSL. For that club it would be really complicated if those teams played in leagues with different cutoffs?

Answering these questions is what takes a year I think, and will start to be answered when each large governing body starts to make choices.

Pretty easy, they move to NPL instead of NCSL

In our area, NPL has blown up, they seem to be expanding quite a bit.

How loud is the silence on ECNL?? Thats what makes the 'leak' legit in my mind and I hope it means someone is about to go rogue.

ECNL goes rogue with a fall 25 change!?

That would be bold.

Maybe a plurality, but the "results" section is an absolute butt-kicking for the 2015 change. They make it sound like if you rewound to 2015, to remove the change concern, youth soccer would overwhelmingly be in favor of keeping SY. The "resources" and "tools" for orgs to help their decision-making will be very interesting. For those wondering if BY really did affect participation rates and RAE, those best practices docs will almost certainly mention it.

US Club will change next fall, believe that.

Yup ECNL changing things up Fall 25! Also I heard the 12% was people mostly wanting grad year.

Wouldn’t be crazy to start early. Also the verbiage from US soccer says it’s a recommendation to start Fall 26.

The leaked doc is now posted by CSTruth.

That would be too bold. If there was no change ever, maybe. But pushing it to 26 has to be just enough to make ECNL grumble, go along with it, and just make some transitory change for 25.
