Based on a video guy shared on another thread?

Link to the video?

Guys seems ok to me and their team is pretty good. Maybe the best group at the club.

They have a good team. Here are some highlights from their game against McLean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e15As3EKV-E&t=1s

Great, someone cherry picked goals against a mediocre team and covered up the coach's constant tirades with music.

Sounds very positive with the kids, offering encouragement, etc. My son, now in college, played for ABGC before Villareal and this coach sounds like DA, or Coach Dave. If it is, he is fantastic and you should take your complaint elsewhere, where there is some merit.

Let me guess...you’re a McLean parent upset about your boy losing?

Current Villareal parent. DA could maybe not joystick the entire game. Do this...go here...pass there...it's a bit much. Let the kids play.

Why stay at the club if you don't like it? There are lots of options around and many clubs had tryouts not long ago.

The critique was of the coach and not the club. This coach is easy to avoid if you're not a 2010 birthday because he will always coach his son's team, which is in itself an issue. You don't have to be even close to the field to see and hear his antics.

The coach mentioned above started out as a great coach but has become so invested that he throws a shit fit every time his team loses or starts to lose. He lost a grip on the big picture and is just an a-hole to the refs and opposing teams.

The 2004 girls team is pretty good, they've won a couple tournaments.

The 2004 girls is OK, lets not kid ourselves. In EDP this past season they finished fourth place. The three teams ahead of them are two CCL teams and a MD team. Both CCL teams did not place in the top of CCL that went to Beach and SOCA and VBR. In other words two CCL teams that are decent and finished mid to upper part of CCL were too much for the 2004 Villareal team. That said, lets not tout this team as their one shining star when they cant even take down one of the only two teams from CCL that entered EDP.

I don't know this coach but it's crazy that a "good" coach would care so much about "winning" at this age especially coaching his son. Kids need to learn how to hold onto a lead, come back from a few goals down, win in PKs. Lose in PKs. Win big. Lose big. Win and lose tight games. Every game provides a new lesson that the kids hopefully take with them so they can deal with these situations when they are older and may matter a little more. Kids need to learn how to snap back from a loss and not get over confident from a win. Part of the process. What if a kid won every game he played 6-0 until he was 16 years old. Would you want that? I wouldn't. He'd be obnoxious! : )

Think this is a coach who actually knows that but has a problem executing it. He has a competitive spirit and gets way too caught up in the moment. To the point where he doesn't care who gets injured, etc. Have seen this coach cheer kids getting knocked down and complain about play being stopped when his own player was on the ground hurt. Not a good look, and the club should assess whether he belongs on the sidelines.

I'm sure they'll take your advice given you've seen a short YouTube video and have never met the coach, while they have known him for years. Yeah. That's the ticket.

Not the OP but I've known Dave for several years. He needs to take a step back and calm down. Recent sideline behaviour is awful.

Where did all of last year's VIVA 07 girls go? I don't see them on the ECNL-RL roster or on any of the FCV-TSJ rosters.

Good luck to 07 boys. They have a great shot at state cup champions this year.

I agree with why since there are no ecnl teams in the state cup and I'm pretty sure they are the best non developmental academy teams in VA
good luck to them
