I don’t have a dog in this specific fight ... I just want to remove legal drinking age from your list.
First, he was never talking about himself. He had in mind older classmates. Go back and read it
Second, he never said he drank legally (I mean, one day at age 21 he did.). Many times he said/implied that he drank at age 17. He wasn’t trying to hide anything.

The legal drinking age in MD in 1982 was 18. It changed on July 1, 1982. If you were 18 before that date, perfectly legal. Drinking at 17 was not a big deal

No big deal, but was still illegal, correct? So, Kav claiming he drank legal is technically a lie under oath.

Brock Kavanaugh. That will forever be his nickname.

A lifelong alcoholic who has had leukemia, what a loser. Amirite?

I really don’t get how democrats are the party of kindness caring and love. Quite a few democrats on display here are utter jerks.

A lot of people have had leukemia and somehow , if they survive, get back to living a decent life.
There was another ‘Judge’ who was a great , great man who was not lucky enough to survive his leukemia .
Stop enabling this ones train wreck.

Both my parents are lifelong alcoholics who have never even seen their grandchildren. I don’t even know the location of my mother, and that’s probably for the best.

He’s probably a severe alcoholic and extremely broken and ill, 24/7/365.

Compassionate democrats my aunt Fanny.

Yes, I know he’s a rich brat. Alcohol doesn’t care what your socioeconomic status is.

So - the alcohol seeks these people out and they can’t escape? Even to rehab? And are all alcoholics holed up in a nice beach house? Please explain these life facts to us all.

Sheldon Whitehouse (D) just made an excellent recap to the committee:

""I may be wrong, but I believed her... And I believe Kavanaugh dodged and dissembled, ranted and raved, filibustered and prevaricated. I did not find him credible... I don't believe 'The Devil's Triangle' is a drinking game, and I don't believe calling yourself a girl's 'alumnus' is being her friend. And I think drinking until you 'ralph' or fall out of the bus or don't remember the game or need to piece together your memory the next day is more consistent with Dr. Ford's and others' testimony than his own. "

My son, a senior and a "white boy," attends one of the all-boys elite privates in the area. He watched Kavanaugh testify. He firmly believes that Kavanaugh is a common type type in his world, that is an entitled, arrogant, obnoxious, whiny brat boy who would believe his behavior, no matter what he does, is always okay because of who he is. Kavanaugh is disgusting. Thank God my son also says there are a dwindling number of boys like that at his school.

put your tinfoil hat back on and simmer down. No one has suggested white people hatred.

Are you nut? Have you not read all the posts vilifying old white men and white boys?

Because of the way you are behaving, you are closing ranks and dismissing the very serious charges against Kavanaugh. My father is an old white guy. My husband is middle aged white guy. My son is white. But they aren't pro the particular white guy who likely perpetrated an horrible act, nor the other white guys who are more worried about him than HER. She is the victim. The only victim.

How do you know your Dad didn’t do something like BK 30 plus years ago and the woman is too scared to come forward?

Nice distraction.

We were talking about Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused of sexual violence by THREE different women. Stay focused.

Do you understand genetically people can be prone to alcoholism and they end up dying of alcoholism and it’s harmful health consequences? You don’t see any homeless alcoholics or drug addicts, do you? Quit playing dumb.

I wouldn’t raise my children (boy or girl) in those circles for all the money in the world.

Change is coming, but slower than we had hoped. Good for your son.

He could've said, "Those yearbook entries...I wanted people to think I was cool. I was 17 and it was immature to put those quotes in my yearbook. I realize how it looks, but that's not the kind of person I was then. I think my reputation as an adult and as a judge is more reflective of who I am than how I acted in high school."

Had he said those things, he could've seemed relatable, humble, professional and respectable. But he didn't say anything close to that. Instead, he went off on partisan rant, got defensive, was evasive in answering questions and confirmed for a lot people that he seems exactly like the type of person who could sexually assault a girl.

He lied about the meaning of the stuff in his yearbook. It does not look good for a federal judge to lie under oath, even about very small things, like definitions of things written in his high school yearbook.

You’re supporting super-elitist Brett Kavanaugh who you think is entitled to a Supreme Court seat no matter without, and you want to accuse, with zero evidence, us of privilege? You funny, girl.

I have no reason to believe he would have. That said, if it ever did come out, I would want to know the truth.

Nobody thinks it’s their family member...but most men who attack women have families. Would you think your dad did it if the woman accusing him had a story not even her friend backed up! Or her parents weren’t even supporting her?

You're just making stuff up about Ford and repeating falsehoods from the right wing media.

She is credible. He is not.

I've never seen Sheldon Whitehouse before, but, as a lawyer, I was impressed with him yesterday. I bet he was a great lawyer. Very calm, clear questions, focused and didn't lose the question when the witness tried to wiggle. Unfortunately, the stupid 5 minute format made it impossible for him to complete his examination. It was really not a good system for uncovering the truth, and most of the R's just wasted time with their speechifying. (I thought Corey Booker also wasted his time.) Would have been a much more effective hearing if they'd split it into 1/2 hour segments and gave each side 1/2 hour, then flipped, and if the Rs had used the AZ prosecutor for all their questions, and the Ds had used some combination of Whitehouse, Harris and Klorbuchar, all of whom are talented trial attorneys who also come across as decent human beings. (Yes, I know that the Rs are calling Whitehouse a sleeze for asking the yearbook questions, but it had to be done, and it was good of him to take that one for the team.)
