That sounds excessive. Source?

People not used to layoffs tend to embellish.

One wonders about Battelle. They operate many FFRDCs, often as part of various partnerships.

We were instructed not to spend-out funds on studies and analysis this FY. I know offices are avoiding MITRE and RAND due to political issues.

Any news about DOE FFRDCs?

MITRE has been on a hiring spree (binge) but it no longer has the “research” project funding of the past to sustain folks on the bench or in between assignments. So many other reasons for the downsizing mentioned earlier in this thread.

I ended up leaving MITRE as the projects dried up so I had to look longer, harder and farther for sponsors/ projects when I’d roll off assignments.

This sounds like a similar situation at RAND. There are just no projects to sustain people on gap. Good people leave since they have exit options.

Tell your friend to update their resume and LinkedIn before they receive an email from their Dept. Head titled "Important Meeting - Please Attend" with a HR Business Partner on copy

I have a feeling that the layoffs at MITRE will be much deeper after October.

What is IPR?

IPR is the non-FFRDC business unit. The corporation has two halves, one FFRDC and one not. Both halves are non-profits.
