This is awful. Reportedly many of the passengers were from the figure saking community, returning from a development camp after Nationals. Awful. |

Who the hell was flying that helicopter? How incompetent can you be? |
+1 so tired of this. I blame members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who insisted on increasing flights and adding longer haul flights at National over strenuous and well-founded objections. Just one example: https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4628813-faa-bill-adds-5-long-distance-flights-to-reagan-national-airport/amp/ Wish these windbags would focus their energy on something more productive. National is the closest airport to me but I’ve been using Dulles for the last few years. Longer runways and not next to a big river. |
In Bethesda and I’ve been noticing this too!! Yesterday I saw a military-looking helicopter flying really low over Sangamore, and then curved, like sort of swooping over the neighborhood. I remember thinking wtf is that guy doing? I do see a lot of helicopters and planes overhead generally but never seen anything like that before. |
Once it's shown the helicopter was at fault, who compensates the families and the airlines? |
There is no need for a direct flight from
National to Wichita. That airport is too congested. I feel awful for the poor ATCs |
Both Russian and Anerican skaters onboard (per BBC). |
The plane landing behind probably had a full view. |
The flight was fine. DCA is fine. The issue was the helicopter. What is with the weird anti-DCA trolling? |
Someone else said the same thing, in dc. These people were being dangerous. |
The airplane did nothing wrong. The military helicopter did. |
This is interesting to me too because last Friday I was driving on one of the many highways that encircles the Pentagon and was shaken by a surprising noise/feeling. Looked left, and there was a helicopter taking off immediately to my right, probably less than 50 feet away on the other side of the short barrier wall. Never seen this before. I don't drive in that part of VA a lot so who knows but it was startling and notable to me. |
I don’t why miltray aircraft is allowed to fly directly under civilian instead of using separate runways. |
