It’s also interesting that that person who posted the tea, further down in the thread, says the gist of it was that people thought BL had blown stuff out of proportion and taken stuff out of context (in regard to JB harrassing her).

I'm fairly sure that reddit post was cited in Lively's legal complaint as an example of one of the paid reddit army. It was posted multiple times. One example linked in another thread had it in the comments of another topic with a date that was a few days after the infamous texts.

It may or may not be a paid post but that would be an alternative explanation.

The timing of the post makes this feel like a possible explanation. The person clearly has inside info from the set. But it's tilted toward Baldoni at a time when others involved with the production were backing Lively (unfollowing Baldoni, refusing to do press with him). I am sure there were a spectrum of attitudes about the rift in set and I'm also sure a lot of people who work with Lively don't like her (this is documented). But the timing of this specific post which seems custom designed to provide a refutation of the harassment rumors, and the fact it was posted and reposted, and knowing Baldoni's people hired Jed Wallace... it makes me skeptical it's authentic. Even though it's entirely possible some or even all of its details are correct.

If so, it was profoundly well done and prescient. Everything is on the table though.

This makes no sense whatsoever given the timing of that post. Truly no sense at all.

There is no way it was Wallace unless Blake has been threatening to go to The NY Times all along. In which case, what an embarrassment for Megan and the Times, they were so played.

Np. Totally agree. I’m the earlier lawyer poster who has been arguing this is a bigger issue for the NYT than they’re letting on, or that other people seem to assume. They look ridiculous in all this.

Ridiculous is not the same as defamation though.

Can you explain why this is a bigger issue for the NYT? Does that mean having advanced notice suggests they should have reached out to Baldoni and his PR people as well? I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm genuinely wondering.

Dp, but it seems a bit odd that a Hollywood actress was so certain, in advance, that she could use The NY Times to defame her director.

She wasn't Taylor's true friend, they were USING Taylor. Like the common Hollywood shysters they are.

Listen to the Molly McPherson podcast a PP posted. She's a PR guru who breaks down what she believes happened with all of this. Main point she has been saying since last August is RR's hands are all over this.

Can someone explain how Blake even has a career? She can’t act, can’t produce, can’t direct, and is 15 years past her “eye candy” prime. Imagine this scheming talentless middle aged woman acting like a diva on set and trying to steal control of your film. This man handled himself exceptionally well, far more professional than I would have been.

I just find it weird that no one thinks Blake has her own agency. People either think she is the victim of Baldoni or Reynolds. Maybe, just maybe, she was the main instigator.

Yes, they had ample time to get the other side’s view before running what was an unfair and arguably highly misleading hit piece on all of them (including several who are not public figures) and they also seem to have relied on a source/sources with questionable motives. It’s definitely very sloppy journalism.

I suspect they thought they could lean into the case filing a lot to be safe (a ‘fair report’ of a public filing is a defense to a defamation claim), but I think they miscalculated and let this writer go too far. You’ll note that the journalist referenced the complaint a lot in the daily podcast. She’s trying to reframe it as coverage of a complaint.

People think that public figures can’t be defamed easily but if you look at the cases where people have $ and legal talent skilled enough to push a case forward past a MTD and summary judgment, juries aren’t nearly so picky about the ‘actual malice’ standard as people seem to assume, and there have been some decent $$ awards for mistakes even. And baldoni has a well funded backer, a very savvy lawyer and will likely bring in other defamation specialists if this moves forward.

I think Lively is very pretty and is a decent actor.
However, the family has enough money. Why not stay home and raise the four kiddos. Why so anal about controlling the narrative of the movie AND what happened between all three of them.
