I wouldn't be restricting healthy carbs from a 10 year old boy. He could be starting puberty and going into a growth spurt. 10 year old boys who are active are hungry. |
You know I'm pretty sure that Michelle Obama focused on policy changes and not just body shaming kids at the local pool. And who knows, maybe she was the kind of person who cruises the local pool to make fun of all the fatties, but I don't think that's really in her nature. |
Your use of the slur, “fatties” tells me all I need to know about what sort of person you are, PP. What a shamefully disgusting pig you are. |
Nobody is body shaming anyone by making general observations of trends on an anonymous online forum. |
Then how come you see wealthy fat adults? |
dp How would you know this? Let's face it most people who are fat eat too much and don't look at the serving size. I was guilty of that in the past. And then they say things that don't make sense like "I look at food and I get fat' No, the serving size for that cereal is 1/4 cup and you just poured yourself 2 1/2 cups of it. There are some foods you can eat a lot of and not get fat but, there are many foods you have to avoid if you tend to overeat them and many you need to watch your potions! |
This. I wish HF corn syrup would get banned. I wish US rules for processed foods were stricter - more like the European rules. And I cannot persuade DS to stop buying so much junk food or to keep our DC away from it. And if some new junk food appears at the store, I know it will be in our kitchen the next week. What is worse, a bunch of the junk food seems to just sit on the shelf because no one liked it. Sigh. |
Nothing but a bunch of miserable bullies with no lives pretending to care about the health and well-being of children living their lives. I pray that they don't come into contact with adults like you. Stop projecting your self hate onto children. They will figure the root of their issues out (if there are actual issues). Some people are just bigger sometimes too. |
My child is in the 120 category and drinks water almost exclusively. He loves salad and hates candy. Not saying he doesn't eat any junk food but point is that genetics also play a role. |
+ 1 Sizeism is a form of oppression. |
This is such a sad thread. |
The American Diet is SAD. We were posted overseas and I already see both of my kids chunking up with all the pizza and nuggets they get served everywhere. I've been sending school lunches because even my kids who love their pizza say they look gross and unhealthy. |
Just noticing that kids are obese is hardly being a miserable bully or oppressing anyone. Calm down. |
Things I've noticed here compared to being overseas: 1) Dessert expected with nearly every meal. Fresh fruit is less often served, and if it is, it's often a sad looking apple or banana, and not surprising that kids go for the cookies/brownies. 2) Cheese on everything (even vegetables). 3) So many snacks. Kids can go more than 2 hours without eating...especially Pirates Booty and potato chips. |
Sizeism = hate |
