Political Discussion
This is big news. |
The bolded part is the entire problem! |
|
It took YEARS to get Trump's personal financial details, despite him being a public official who is supposed to be transparent and disclose his finances. Whereas it only took far less to get Hunter's and put them on blast - and he's a private individual. Meanwhile, the disclosure of Trump's also proved that he was engaging in all kinds of tax and loan fraud by maintaining separate sets of books, and those prosecutions, despite being years in the making are still being slow-walked and are still a ways out to trial, whereas Hunter's are being fast tracked. Want to talk about "weaponization?" The weaponry is clearly being used far more aggressively on Hunter than it was on Trump. |
Why haven't the Trump prosecutions been playing out as they should? |
| All the political interference in this case from Republicans. |
But is it really a problem? The judge appointed to the HB case is currently questioning "a provision in the plea deal that contained details about not prosecuting Hunter Biden for any future tax crimes." I looked her up and she's a Trump appointee but "had the support of both Democratic senators from Delaware when she was nominated by Trump. Under the Senate’s so-called blue slip tradition, nominees for district court seats must have the support of the home state senators to move forward." Sounds to me like she's doing her job. Let's sit back and see what happens. |

Correct. "In the days before he left office, President Donald Trump instructed that his family get the best security available in the world for the next six months, at no cost — the protection of the U.S. Secret Service. Trump issued a directive to extend post-presidency Secret Service protection to his four adult children and two of their spouses, who were not automatically entitled to receive it. Trump also directed that three key officials leaving government continue to receive the protection for six months: former treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin, former chief of staff Mark Meadows and former national security adviser Robert C. O’Brien. Under federal law, Trump, his wife, Melania Trump, and their 14-year-old son are the only members of his immediate family entitled to Secret Service protection after they leave office. The couple will receive it for their lifetimes, and Barron is entitled to protection until he turns 16." https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-extended-secret-service-protection-for-13-members-of-his-family-as-he-left-office/2021/01/20/31ef3e9e-5b3c-11eb-b8bd-ee36b1cd18bf_story.html#:~:text=Under%20federal%20law%2C%20Trump%2C%20his,protection%20until%20he%20turns%2016. |
| It’s going to be super ironic if the GOP succeeds in blowing up this plea deal and the prosecutors are forced to drop all of the charges because of all the misconduct by these investigators. |
| Deal back on |

Plea deal was not accepted.
Judge did not accept the constitutionality of the diversion clause. |
Wrong... NO PLEA DEAL. Hunter Biden just pleaded "NOT guilty" in Delaware court after federal judge refuses to rubber-stamp sweetheart deal, tells prosecutors and defense lawyers she can neither accept nor deny his guilty plea at this point due to ambiguities. Cue the "Trump appointed judge" bashing. |

Judge says gun deal for Hunter Biden is "unusual"
From CNN's Tierney Sneed, Marshall Cohen, Kara Scannell, Holmes Lybrand US District Judge Maryellen Noreika called the deal federal prosecutors reached with Hunter Biden for his gun possession offense “unusual.” She said the deal — in which Biden would enter the diversion program to resolve the charge — contains some "non-standard terms," such as "broad immunity" from other potential charges. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/politics/live-news/hunter-biden-tax-charges-hearing/index.html |
