My college age son complained of some body aches and general lethargy last Wednesday but he didn't make a huge deal out of it. He left for school Thursday and by Friday night still felt a bit "off" (tired and a little upset stomach) so took his temp and it was 101.6. Felt generally better over the weekend, but still got a very slight fever (100.6) last night so he is worried its still not gone!
Sound familiar? If so, how long did it last? I think this was brewing last Wednesday, so he should hopefully be all better soon. Its odd how there isn't any major upper respiratory symptoms. |
| Sounds like Lyme disease. No cough or sore throat so it's not flu. Is this possible? If so get him on antibiotics ASAP. |
| I was thinking Lyme too. |
This was me yesterday I took a nap and felt better after that, fever went down too. It happens every now and then, I have been tested for Lyme a few months ago and it was negative. I have also had a thyroid inflammation in the past, symptoms were fever and feeling tired all the times. I have no idea what else it could be. |
| I had this exact thing about 10 days ago. I had notable body aches, fatigue, and stomach issues (diarrhea). I felt a little feverish but didn't take my temp. Since I'm Mom, I had to pretend like I was fine but I wasn't. I wasn't sure if it was a virus or not but a couple days later, I actually had an all-over body rash that didn't itch and kind of looked like the viral rashes my kids used to get when they were little. The rash cleared after two days. My stomach problems lasted for about a week. One of my kids had very similar stomach issues, too. We are all fine, now. |
| Yep this is how I feel now. My tonsils are huge and inflamed which normally means I'm sick. I feel feverish, but I doubt I have a fever. |
| My 3 year old had something similar last week, then she threw up once & was fine. Now I have had a low fever & sinus headache for 3 days so assume I caught it? |
|
He has had no rash or even really been outdoors much (worked in an office in DC all summer). Also - no joint pain.
I think its possible to pick up a virus-type flu thing without a sore throat or cough? He is a little bit congested, but its not bad. Really hope its not Lyme! If this continues, I will tell him to get to health clinic. |
| I wouldn't think Lyme. Sounds like a garden variety virus. |
| Is this similar? My 3.5 year old son threw up in the middle of the night last Tuesday night. No fever. A little congested by Friday. Then seemed fine, until Saturday night -- 101.5 fever. Fine again until Sunday night -- complained about stomach ache and kept saying he was going to throw up, but nothing happened, but he was crying and clearly his stomach felt bad. (Complicating matters, he gets constipated and hadn't pooped for 3 days. Fixed that, but some of this could be from that). He is complaining of a sore throat, too. Today, Monday, he acts fine one minute, then says his tummy hurts and has to lie down (not normal). No fever. No vomit. No diarrhea. His color looks fine and hes drinking water and crackers, but just off! So hard to figure out where and how it really hurts and he keeps changing his answers. will ho to doctor if not resolved soon but hoping it's just a weird bug that is lingering. Familiar??? |
Uh, no, I've never heard of anything like this. I'm sure this is something that's completely unique to your DS. Better get him to the ER stat!

| Teacher here: whatever virus this is it goes around every year. It takes longer than you think to go away (a full 10+ days) but it does. No biggie. |
| Yes, my son just got over this. Fever, plus achy legs. The pediatrician said it had been going around. |
| I'm having strong waves of stomach pain that feels like indigestion and general malaise, but not really a fever. Hoping it's a brief virus. :/ |
| I have this now. High fever for six days, heachache, slight cough, anxiety. I've been to the doc and to urgent care and nothing is helping. Now I have a rash. It's miserable. |
