| I did a flight in my last pregnancy that was 10 hours at 27 weeks and was fine. That being said, how late would you or have you flown a long haul flight? I am talking a 7 hour flight, layover, and then an additional 15 or so hours in the air. Was totally comfortable in coach for the flight at 27 weeks. This would be business class. |
| I think in business, you'd be fine. Wear compression stockings, drink a lot of water, get up every hour or so to walk around...I'd go at 27 weeks. |
|
In coach, not past my 2nd tri, which the ObGyn blessing. In business or 1st, with average pregnancy to that poibt? 20 weeks. I would be very nervous about an early delivery and access to what I was used to. If I were from the country or had very close ties to the country that opinion would change.
In real life, I would not fly to the Far East pregnant, even though I have done it pregnant, but I am a nervous nelly. |
| Ack, I have done it not pregnant |
| Do you have to do it? Gee, a trip to LA is tough when you are not pregnant. |
| I did Hong Kong at about that far along. Business class. It was fine for me. |
| Pps who have or would do this, how late in pregnancy would you consider doing this? |
| I flew to India business. I'm think I was between 28-30 was. No problem. |

I think your main worry, if seat size is not an issue, is dehydration that could lead to premature labor. When professional athletes fly long haul for events, they are advised to drink 12 fl oz of water (a can of coke size) per hour they travel. This also helps reduce the jet lag.
I actually carry an empty water bottle on board and then fill it up so I don't have to harass the flight attendants every couple of hours. |
|
I did it at 32 weeks in business class to Tokyo and Seoul (so places I was ok with the healthcare system). No swelling. I drank a ton of water and walked the cabin every few hours.
I'd never do it in coach (blood clots!) and never to a place with poor healthcare. |
I think I just threw up a bit. Where exactly do you fill your bottle? The lav? That's not potable water. If you fly in a premium cabin the flight attendants should be refilling the bottled water they give you. |
Totally uncalled for response. I'm sure she doesn't fill her bottle in the WC. I carry a bottle too if I remember & just ask the attendant to fill it. It's waaaay more convenient than calling the attendant every 30 min or getting up all the time - no matter what cabin you're in. |
That's just so odd. I fly overseas at least once a month, usually to Asia, the flight attendants always hand out water bottles and refill them if needed every time they walk by. If PP is filling her own water bottle, where is the water coming from?! |

I've done Bangkok to DC twice at 32 weeks pregnant. Just bring a note from your doctor stating you are fit to fly. I drank lots of water and walk around every hour.
I did this in Business, though I'm not sure an Economy seat would have made the trip any different. |
You can't raise your feet in an economy seat, so it's a huge difference. You're also at more risk for blood clots while pregnant. I would never fly a long flight pregnant and in coach. |
