Family friendly all inclusive resort in Mexico

Anonymous
Any recent experience with specific all-inclusive resorts that were family friendly? Thanks!

We have twice been to Barcelo Maya Palace (south of Cancun) and loved it. They have a few properties right there and they all look lovely. Maya Palace is the "premier" one but the Colonial, Tropical, and the other one look great too. Nice beach, wonderful water part, and decent food. Our kids were 11, 6, and 3.5 when we last went ( and two years younger when we went the first time).

Is the dangerous part of Mexico far from Cancun?

Club Med Cancun is awesome!

We have been to a few of the RIU Hotels & Resorts (all-inclusives in Mexico).

The last one we bought through Southwest Vacations and thought it was a good overall value (with airfare too.)

Not Paradisus.

We've done Barcelo Maya Palace, Iberostar (one w/ wave pool) and Dreams Riveria with kids. I would recommend Dreams if kids are 6-7+, Barcelo for younger kids.

Is this all inclusive? Rosewood welcomes children, but as a guest, it's not really a place for kids.

Avoid Moon Palace Cancun. It is HUGE, crowded, and the beach is permanently unusable due to seaweed (which stinks!).

+1 If you stay at the Palace, you get access to all other resorts. If you're at the Colonial, you get access to all but the Place, and so it continues on down. The Colonial and Palace have the best pools. The Palace has the best a la cart dining (requires reservations). Not sure if you can go to those restaurants if you're not at the Palace. The rooms are big at the Palace and work well for a family (but not true suites w/a dividing wall). Haven't seen the rooms at the other resorts.

We were at the Palace in May. Perfectly safe. While there's always a risk of trouble, most of Mexico's problems are elsewhere.

Which RIU would be better for an 8 year old. Our Choices are the RIU Palace Los Americanas or the RIU Palace Pennisula.(family trip can only pick between these 2)

We really want to know which is better for Kids.

TIA

I agree it's amazing. They have Rose Buds program for kids and will baby proof your room if needed. Also provided monitor and bottle steamer when we were there.
