| Midwest mom here, used to lake vacations, soooo excited to be spending a week at Rehoboth. With me will be two teenagers who are actually easy to please. So tell me everything. Everything from food, restaurants, outlet shopping, whether to pack anything but shorts, best spots on the beach, souvenirs, etc., etc. |
| Royal treat! It's near the boardwalk/arcade area. Great ice cream sundaes and breakfasts. |
| Dogfish Head Ale House, Kerwins for fudge. |
| Funland!! Arcade/rides. |
| There are umpteen threads on what to do in/best of Rehoboth. Do a search and you will see tons of suggestions. |

A few to get you started: frozen custard at Kohr Brothers, beach fries at Thrasher's, caramel corn from Dolle's, games and rides at Funland, Dogfish Head, Big Fish Grill, Jake's Seafood for fabulous crab cakes, all the fun shops along Rehoboth Avenue, shopping at Tanger Outlets
Parking can be tough to be sure to read up on it at http://www.cityofrehoboth.com/visitors/parking-information |

Traveling with easy-to-please kids--- I can't wait till those days are upon me!
Visit Broweabout Books-- anyone of any age can spend hours in there. Cycle or run/walk through the Henlopen Acres/The Pines neighborhood to see how the other half lives. Beautiful houses back in there, and so peaceful. Shop at Outlet Liquors on Rte 1 for booze for the vacation and to take back home. Great selection, great prices, and no sales tax! |
| The State Park has free bicycles that you can borrow, including helmets, infant seats, and trailers. |

Stroll around downtown Baltimore/Rehoboth Avenue boutiques!
It will soon be apparent there is a pizza slice joint/candy kitchen/ice cream place on every corner. My kids preferred Nicola's to the Grotto for a casual pizza/pasta meal, De Febo's was good for something Italian but a little more upscale for dinner. Jake's is a reliable family friendly bet for burgers, seafood, chicken tenders etc. Beach at Deauville (just north of Lake Gerar/downtown) is cash for everything everything but despite jiffy john we found it nicer than the boardwalk beach - sand quality, less trash, cheap snacks at snack bar. Bring $10 to park all day and you can rent umbrellas & chairs too if you want. Bikeable from downtown. North area is nice for biking (park around lake Gerar and neighborhoods to the north) and there is also the Junction-Breakwater trail, goes all the way from Rehoboth to Lewes, and can be accessed from several points like Wolfneck Road https://www.leweschamber.com/trails/junction-breakwater-biking-and-hiking-trail They might enjoy Jungle Jim's waterpark (up Route 1) there are also lots of restaurants, 3 sections of the Tanger outlet mall for back to school shopping and the Midway movie theater up there. Also Midway go-karts, which has an arcade. Walking/nature center/views/beach at Cape Henlopen is worth the state park admission, nice fields there for a pickup game of frisbee or soccer too. As long as you are there, explore Lewes, Del which has quaint homes, restaurants, a canal/harbor with access to Delaware Bay & so fishing, sunset cruise are an option there. Indian River Inlet is also a place to find boat rides, crabbing expeditions, fishing charters or head boats http://www.oldinlet.com/fishinginfo/charterservice.html Funland would still be fun at least some of the rides like the Sea Dragon, FlipIt and mini-Freefall for teens. For a longer day trip you might head down to Assateague (wild ponies, great natural beach) or just drive down Highway One along the coast to explore Delaware Seashore State Park, see Ocean City and hit an all-you-can-eat buffet, Seacrets (daytime only with kids) Trimpers, Jolly Roger etc. |

NO SALES TAX IN DELAWARE
I was weirded out to not have to pay taxes on anything - earrings, housewares, clothes - it's great! |
| Cafe Papillon on Penny Lane, about a block up from boardwalk off of Rehoboth Ave. Amazing crepes made by people who come from France for the summer. the line may take long, but worth it, cash only! |
| Is there any part of the beach by the boardwalk which is better to seek out than another? |
| Away from the boardwalk. |
I disagree. We will never eat at Nicola Pizza again. It is over priced and the servers are rude. Coincidentally, they were in the news recently for barring a family with a handicap infant. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3187039/Family-humiliated-barred-bringing-severely-disabled-six-month-old-son-pizza-restaurant.html |
| If you can afford it, book a hotel near the board walk. Go to the beach during the day and Funland at night. The rides at Funland are inexpensive. If you eat out, just pick the cheapest option. No need to pay lots of money... all you are getting are salt, fat and sugar. |
