Stroll around downtown Baltimore/Rehoboth Avenue boutiques! It will soon be apparent there is a pizza slice joint/candy kitchen/ice cream place on every corner. My kids preferred Nicola's to the Grotto for a casual pizza/pasta meal, De Febo's was good for something Italian but a little more upscale for dinner. Jake's is a reliable family friendly bet for burgers, seafood, chicken tenders etc. Beach at Deauville (just north of Lake Gerar/downtown) is cash for everything everything but despite jiffy john we found it nicer than the boardwalk beach - sand quality, less trash, cheap snacks at snack bar. Bring $10 to park all day and you can rent umbrellas & chairs too if you want. Bikeable from downtown. North area is nice for biking (park around lake Gerar and neighborhoods to the north) and there is also the Junction-Breakwater trail, goes all the way from Rehoboth to Lewes, and can be accessed from several points like Wolfneck Road https://www.leweschamber.com/trails/junction-breakwater-biking-and-hiking-trail They might enjoy Jungle Jim's waterpark (up Route 1) there are also lots of restaurants, 3 sections of the Tanger outlet mall for back to school shopping and the Midway movie theater up there. Also Midway go-karts, which has an arcade. Walking/nature center/views/beach at Cape Henlopen is worth the state park admission, nice fields there for a pickup game of frisbee or soccer too. As long as you are there, explore Lewes, Del which has quaint homes, restaurants, a canal/harbor with access to Delaware Bay & so fishing, sunset cruise are an option there. Indian River Inlet is also a place to find boat rides, crabbing expeditions, fishing charters or head boats http://www.oldinlet.com/fishinginfo/charterservice.html Funland would still be fun at least some of the rides like the Sea Dragon, FlipIt and mini-Freefall for teens. For a longer day trip you might head down to Assateague (wild ponies, great natural beach) or just drive down Highway One along the coast to explore Delaware Seashore State Park, see Ocean City and hit an all-you-can-eat buffet, Seacrets (daytime only with kids) Trimpers, Jolly Roger etc.
