How often do your kids socialize during the summer?

I'm specifically wondering about kids who are too young to drive/work and have plenty of free time. How often do they get together with friends?

Daily? Depends where she's spending her time. But daily or close to it.

As soon as I can chase them out of the door in the morning I hope they're socializing. We have a playground they can walk to and they have friends on the same block an we have a community pool. They are 11 and 8, so, I expect them to plan their day and keep me advised.

Daily, at summer camp and with neighbor kids on the weekends. Or at the pool in the afternoons/evenings. Once a week or so we have playdates with school friends. A lot, in my opinion. Too much for me, since I'm an introvert and would prefer peace and some quiet reading time, but they are 7 and 9 and into the whole playdate thing, so that's what we do.

NP. I was going to post something similar. What is a reasonable amount of times for teens (16/17) to go to parties? Every Friday and/or Saturday night there is a party in the DMV that my teen wants to attend. I normally try not to let her go both nights, but she always says "there is nothing else going on and I'm bored". All her friends are good kids, so that is not the issue. I realize it's summer time, but when the party starts/ends late and I have to pick her up from the Metro at 2am, it becomes an issue for me. Do most people just let their teens hang out?

Sure. What else would you rather your kid be doing? Knitting while watching a Lifetime movie at home? It's just not realistic. I did encourage her to babysit, and often she'd go out on Friday nights, babysit Saturday nights and then go sleep over at a friend's house.
When DD was in high school and going to parties on both nights with her best friend, I'd coordinate with the best friend's parents. One of us did the late night pick up on Friday night and the other did it Saturday night.

Are 16/17 year olds allowed to be out at 2am? Isn't that past curfew?

Yeah, my teen goes to parties. She loves to smoke weed and have sex.
