You may have developed an allergy.

Clean the ring in one of those sonic machines. I bet it's food/gunk under it or in the diamond holes.

I agree with pp. I would check with a jeweler - maybe you can get it plated.

I developed this about 15 years into wearing my rings. Dermatologist gave me a lotion AND suggested I only wear them during the day and then use the lotion at bedtime, no rings for sleep.

Hasn't bothered me since.

I coated the inside of my offending rings with clear nail polish. I think I have an allergy to nickel? Something like that.

I have the solution. This happens to me all the time. Soak your rings for 45 minutes in vinegar/hydrogen peroxide. You will literally see the dead organisms rising to the top. Then tie your rings to a spoon and dangle them over boiling water for 10 min. It won't hurt the rings but will kill anything that's left. I have to do this periodically and it works like a charm. I read that 90% of people who think try have a nickel allergy to their rings just have contact dermatitis to gunk on the jewelry or due to water being trapped under the rings. Your fingers may have grown a bit post pregnancy and there's not enough air circulating. Don't assume nickel allergy.

I found this happens when soap/water gets trapped under my rings. Take your rings off at night and put some hydrocortisone cream and then some aquaphor type stuff on it overnight for a couple weeks. Worked well for me.

This. Happened to me too, so I removed it for a bit til it went away and cleaned them well. Then all was fine. Didn't help that I had gained weight, so they were a bit tight...probably the case during your pregnancy too.

Yes.. but clean the rings!!! Rings can be nasty, gross things with lots of germs.

I have eczema and have started getting flareups under my ring. Eczema creams are the only thing that works, and also have stopped wearing my ring every day. I will try the vinegar/peroxide suggestion in case there's something on the ring that is aggravating my eczema.

Quite common. You have probably have developed a post-pregnancy allergy to nickel. You won't be able to wear gold anymore without this happening.

Some women find they can coat their gold jewelry with clear nail polish, but it doesn't work for everyone.

+1 this did the trick for me as well. Was very hesitant to place my platinum rings in this solution but I figured I wouldn't be able to wear them anymore if they kept giving me a rash. This solution worked well and no problems since.
