So, the AHS service company has determined that my dryer cannot be fixed and we need a new one. Has this happened to anyone here? What happens? Does AHS just give you the money for the cheapest, most bottom of the line replacement, or do they take in consideration how nice the broken appliance was? Any advice on dealing with AHS to get the best outcome? |
Why not just call them and ask? |
They will pay you (or replace with) a similar model. So, our dishwasher may have been top-of-the-line when it was installed, but that was 1970, so its features mimic the bottom-of-the-line models of today. We only got about $350 for our dishwasher from our home warranty company (or they would have replaced it with the bottom-of-the-line from that brand if we had asked them for a replacement).
If you have a fairly new, mid- or top-of-the-line model, you'll get more money. Good luck! |
What does your contract say? There are different levels of service.
Why do people take the time to post questions like these when the answers are in writing in the contract? Sheesh. |
OP here, when I posted this question, I had tried calling them 3 times and giving up after being on hold for over 30 minutes each time, then I finally got through to them the 4th time I called after 40 minutes on hold, and was told the service company had not sent over the replacement report yet so they couldn't help me and to call back later. I was pleasantly surprised though that they are replacing my dryer with the newest version of the model, which is $1,300 retail, so I'm pleased. I believe my broken dryer was definitely over 10 years old. But, this whole process took well over a month, which was annoyting. They are really hard to get a hold of, they ALWAYS have a "high call volume", but at least I am happy with the replacement. I figured they would offer me a bottom of the line crappy dryer. I know my contract says they replace with a "similar" product, but I really didn't know what exactly that would mean. |
I'll believe it when it's delivered |
I'll update when it's here, they are also supposed to install it for free (is a gas dryer) |
