Kiddie Academy- Child Abuse case

Anonymous

Thirty-five-year-old (Claudia) Patricia Roldan of Rockville faces second-degree cruelty to children after two different parents complained of bruises on their three-month-old and seven-month-old babies.
The alleged abuse of the children started in March and went through April, according to charging documents.

Any pictures of this person?

Thank god, the story is out. I know the mother of one of the abused kids. The woman is released though. I hope she will get what she deserves

Why don't these places get immediately shut down when there's clear evidence that the owners have failed to protect the children from severe abuse?

There are mandatory FBI background checks for daycare workers, which of course don't prevent the first incident, but will make it impossible for this person to work in this field again in the future. Since you can't see into the future Minority-Report-style, that's the best protection we have as parents. The risk of someone who never had an issue in the past becoming a first-time offender is not something the center can prevent from happening, the only thing they can do is report it when it happens, as they are mandated to do, and collaborate with the investigation.

This fucking center needs to be shut down. It is on them, on the director!

How did this happen especially when there are cameras? Not blaming parents at all, but someone at that school should have been watching. Horrible!

I'm a FTM with a kid who just started daycare at 4 months. This story should lead to at least one sleepless night.

But it has me curious...would you pull your kid out of here if they were enrolled? I'd imagine that after an incident like this that the place would be like Fort Knox and everyone would be extra adherent to rules.

I'm a parent of a child currently there. We have been at the center for over a year. I never thought about pulling him out. I'm not sure how you justify closing a center because of the actions of one person and the inaction of the person in the same room. Unfortunately there are predators everywhere. Some nannies have killed children that they've been responsible for taking care of, babysitters abuse, as do priests, teachers and coaches. Do we shut down schools, corporate offices, churches, or take away parenting rights when this happens? Get a grip. The good news is that the parents were vigilant and the owner of the center was open and turned over all videotape to authorities.

I'm sorry, but you're nuts. Really nuts. In fact, I bet you're the director of the hell hole of a place. Shame on you.

Yes, I would pull the child. They don't have proper hiring or oversight to let this happen.

I have a friend whose baby was in that room. They loved this teacher. I have to think if this was me we would have to leave. What an awful situation for those parents and kids.

Also the other teacher should have said something immediately. She had seen this teacher pinch babies in the past and did nothing. A daycare should properly train and reinforce that you never engage in any physical discipline and report it immediately if you see it.

You are crazy, lady! How can you send your kid back to a daycare where the other workers were complicit with abuse of babies!!

Yeah, I have to agree. You're crazy. No way in hell I would leave my child there. And I used day care for years.
