Donald Trump Questions Whether Arizona Senator John McCain Should Be Considered a War Hero

“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa today.

John McCain was a prisoner of war for over five years - refusing to leave his men behind - in Viet Nam. He had several broken bones and cannot lift his arms about his shoulders. Even Democrats honor his service and heroism.

Republicans seem to love bashing veterans. First there was the swiftboat campaign against Kerry. Next that a-hole GOP congressman trash talked Tammy Duckworth (look it up). Now the leading Republican presidential candidate is taking swipes at a former POW.

Yeah, he didn't question it. He said outright that McCain was no war hero. Reminds me of Jeb Bush's ugly role in swiftboating John Kerry.

McCain is a loser because everyone knows the Hanoi Hilton isn't nearly as luxurious as the finest Trump properties which, as we all know are the finest, most luxurious properties and only a loser wouldn't know that Trump's properties are the finest and most luxurious.

There have always been questions about the way he was shot down...did he take too much risk etc. A lot of REMF attacked Kerry. Now we have a non service member questioning the action of a service member who was in combat.

Even then Senator Obama, when running agains McCain, always said McCain was a great American and a war hero - he thanked him often for his service and sacrifice (McCain's injuries are far more serious than simply not being able to lift his arms).

Then again, President Obama has both class and dignity which Trump has NEVER had.

Yep. Look, McCain wasn't a great student at Annapolis and wasn't a great/care pilot by all accounts. It's absolutely possible that a more conscientious pilot wouldn't have been shot down. But that doesn't matter at this point. The man spend 5 years as a POW, and 2 years in solitary. He refused to be released until all of his comrades were also let go.

There are many things you can say about McCain, but he deserves respect for what he went through. I have no problem calling him a war hero, and I'm not one of those folks who calls every veteran a hero.

Whether you think McCain is a hero or not, at least he participated in the war, unlike Trump who got 4 or 5 deferrals. Trump is a disgusting POS.
