Was the thread about Planned Parenthood with the vid of the director/baby parts conversation deleted or moved?
If deleted, what is the reason please? |
Deleted because DCUM is not an anti-abortion propaganda site. Planned Parenthood doesn't have a "fetal parts business" as alleged in the thread's title. In addition to that, the thread had devolved into an off-topic discussion about abortion. |
Isn't that your opinion? Only your last point is good reason for deletion. The created post wasn't about anti-abortion, it was about the business of abortion. The posts included a video and that video was pretty clear. They do indeed have a fetal parts business; the only real questions are (a) do they make a profit and (b) is it illegal. Even if A is no and B is no, when a doctor performs an abortion being careful to preserve part A or part B to give to research or a company that uses them for something else, that is indeed a business. From there, it's an individual moral call. The information, however, is newsworthy and important. |
The video to which you linked was a collection of cuts of over 3 hours of video spliced together in an out of context manner. It may have been clear to you, but it was misleading and provided a false presentation. We can argue semantics all night, but a service that is at best a non-money-making byproduct is not a "business". You can get packs of ketchup at McDonalds, but McDonald's doesn't have a ketchup business. |
Here is a link to an ad from the company Stem Express, buying the parts, that states that there are financial benefits:

Attack that company all you want. The flyer has no connection to Planned Parenthood. |
Remain an ostrich. I know your type. |
Jeff, with all due respect, what's wrong with that? This is a news item today and of course what came out from the video would lead to a conversation about abortion, more generally. I sense that you, personally, were becoming uncomfortable with what you are judging here to be "anti-abortion propaganda." It seemed that the posters, however, could more than hold their own on the topic, both sides of it. |
Well, that is a question of perspective. One person's "holding their own" is another's "going overboard with attacks". Maybe you didn't see the last page, but there was really nothing that could reasonably be described as "discussion" going on. |
And they do admit they are in the fetal parts business. |
I'm sorry the thread was deleted too. Often I come to dcum after reading a news story to get explanation and insight to the different sides. I've learned not to trust everything my Brietbart loving family posts on Facebook. ![]() I question the agenda of admin on handling of certain topics, but I get it...I'm playing in someone else's sandbox, yada yada. Not sure why some topics just have certain comments deleted, while another has the entire thread removed. I wish I could read the comments refuting the video, but instead now I'll just assume there is something to hide. |
This is exactly why people need to be afraid of the media; "they" edit what they want you to read and delete what they don't want you to know or what they disagree with. Easy as pie! |
I agree. I am totally pro-choice and supportive of Planned Parenthood and even I have to say I find the thread deletion ridiculous. People are allowed to be anti-abortion and talk about the issues. It doesnt have to be an instant shut down. And given the fact that this was all over the news today, it seems absurd that we "arent allowed" to discuss it here... |
The problem with abortion threads is that they always devolve into opinions about whether or not abortion is moral. It only took a page or two for the thread in question to devolve into accusations that Planned Parenthood is a concentration camp, babies are being murdered like Jews, PP is a serial killer, nobody ever gets contraception or mammograms from PP, etc. It's not possible to have a nuanced conversation about the video because pro-lifers want to make the conversation about abortion itself. Do you see the difference? |
