Do you have a salad spinner?

Do you have a salad spinner? Would you describe this as a "need" or a want? If you don't have a salad spinner, do you use paper towels or have wet lettuce or only cheeseburgers?

I have one. I use it a lot. It's very quick and effective. I also use it for storing washed greens.

Yes, I have one and because I eat salads everyday, it was a definite NEED for me. I also use it as a simple colander for soaking other fruits and vegetables. Soak - Spin-Rinse and repeat. It's a great tool that is used everyday.

I have one after going too long without one. I'm still pretty lazy about pulling it out since it's a pretty big piece that then needs to be hand washed. But it works so well. No more soggy anything. You can also spin clothes in there, I have read! Like a soggy swimsuit or something...

Yes, it's a need. We go through lots of lettuce and other greens, and you need to wash that stuff well.

We have the OXO salad spinner and use it a lot. It does a much better job drying greens than blotting with paper towels. That said, it's still a "want" only because it's not 100% necessary to have in order to dry lettuce and takes up space.

I sold it at the last yard sale. It was never worth the trouble of pulling it out to use it and then having another dish to clean. I just blot with paper towels.

Do you have kids? It was a favorite of my kids as a toy during the toddler years. They've used it much more than I have. In fact, I think it now resides with the play kitchen dishes. So while I wouldn't consider it a need they certainly do!

I have a small OXO salad spinner and love it, even though I don't like salads. I use it to wash berries and really any small fruit or veggie that I want to dry a bit. It's not exactly a "Need", but it is very useful.

I put it off for so long because it seemed silly to buy an additional gadget for this. But I bought the cheap version at IKEA and I love it! No more wet lettuce! But, of course, that still doesn't make it a need.

I have a spinner and use it regularly but my lettuce doesn't get very dry. What are all your tricks? I keep spinning and spinning. I've even used paper towels on the bottom to dry things out and my lettuce is still fairly wet.

There are collapsible ones if you're worried about storage.

You're putting too much in at one time. Do it in batches. For the OP, it's a must have for me but I eat a lot of salads...we also have the small oxo one and it suffices for us.

I usually buy bagged salad greens..no rinsing required.

Yes, but only within the last year? I love it. A pain to wash and store, but so fun to use =)
