I am watching the show and I don't understand why the kids look so Asian. Kate is 100% white and isn't Jon only part Asian?

Dominant for this family but not true for all. They are only 1/4 mix. My friend's kids are 1/4 Korean, but looks white.

John is only half Korean. Jon's father is of European descent so the kids are only 25% Korean. It is interesting that not one of the 8 kids looks more White.

Could they have used Korean sperm donor? If they had male factor issues, they may have used donor sperm?

OP here. I am white and my DH is Hispanic so our kids are half Hispanic. They have dark eyes and hair but fairly white skin although they do tan a bit in the summer. The kids on the show look at least half Asian to me. I wonder if donor eggs or sperm were used.

I know! John's genes must be very dominant. I'm jealous. My kids are half Asian, and don't look very Asian at all. I am still shocked that my DS has green eyes.

Are you new to the Kate Plus 8 scene? They didn't use donor sperm or egg. She (pre-divorce) used to talk about her kids having Jon's dominant genes/all looking Asian.

They didn't have male factor issues. Kate had PCOS.

They did IUI, so no donor egg. No donor sperm either.

They did IUI, but she got OHSS. That's why so many eggs. They didn't believe in selective reduction.

Yep - Jon's genes are just that dominant. He looks 100% Asian for only being half Asian (I know other people who are half Asian yet they look white).

I don't think Jon looks 100% Asian. The kids look even more Asian than he does.

Genes are weird. Jon looks more Korean than white. I think the kids looks closer to 50/50.

FWIW, I'm also white with a Hispanic DH. We have one kid with blue green eyes, light skin, light brown hair (so... she looks white), and another with dark brown eyes and hair, and brown skin (she looks Hispanic). Both kids have the same parents, but look completely different.
