We go to Washington Waldorf School which means they don't start school until September 8.
Where are the camps for the last weeks of August and the first week of September? I assume we aren't the only ones on the schedule so someone must offer something. We just moved here so I apreciate any help you can offer. |

We're in Arlington and I think your choices are very limited. This is a week that camps are losing their college-age counselors, camps based at schools shut down so teachers can get their classrooms ready, and many families are on vacation.
|
| Try the gymnastics places. They have late camps. |

The schools in VA don't start until 9/08 either, so you might be able to find something in Arlington or Fairfax. There aren't as many camps in general the last couple weeks in August (and the first week in September), but YMCA has a bunch, if there's one near you. Lola's Labs also runs camps that week, as does Mad Science.
That said, you are way late in the game for camp signups, and you are going to see a lot of "full" camps at this point. (we signed up for all of our camps in January and February, as soon as registration opened, for future reference.) |
| I don;t get why they don;t have camps those last weeks either. Seems like lost money to me. |
Because they can't staff them. Any the private schools need time to set up for school. |
| Even our private, which offers camps from the beginning of June before public schools get out, don't offer camps during those weeks and they staff using teachers. What I have found though is that teachers and staff from privates will do daycare for you. It's pricey - I think I was paying $100 a day two years ago. Now I just take vacation. |
| I found a camp for the last two weeks in August. Now I just need to find the week of August 31. |
| Have you tried Artworks in Bethesda, or the International Language School for Spanish camp? I think both cover later weeks in August than most other camps. |
| ANY ideas for a camp in NoVa for a 5-year-old about to enter K? I have no idea what to do with my DS during that week, other than bring him to my office every day... |
Sorry, I meant, for that first week in September before Ffx Co schools start. |
Kinder care or the karate places I'm sure would be options available. Can't think of anything else. Did you check YMCA? |
| You might try care.com or a competitor to find anyone available for full time care for that week only. I imagine there might be a few. |
| Sidwell Summer's DC Campus is offering some programs right up until 9/4. My DD loves their Handwork Day Camp program so that works for her but unfortunately, my son is aged out of their Lego offering. Such a long summer this year! |
| Create Arts Center in Silver Spring has camp through Sept 4. |
