When did you make different updates and replacements in your home? My house was built in 2003 and was a short sale with some issues so we initially put a lot of money into replacing some things. I am the type of person who saves money with an idea of what my future needs will be, so for example I know that my downstairs AC unit may be on its last legs, so I know I will have to spend a few thousand dollars on it, either next year or the year after. So I am trying to come up with what major replacements I will have to make in the years to come. I know, of course, that houses are always full of surprises, but it's nice to have an idea For example, here is the life of my house so far:
House built in 2003 10 years old- replaced upstairs AC and heat pump - 7k 10 years - Roof repairs - few hundred dollars 10 years - repainted most of house, changed kitchen appliances 15 years- probably will have to change downstairs AC - $5k (my approximation) 25 years - Roof replacement?? So what kinds of repairs, updates, and replacements have you had in your home, and at what year? Do you do any regular maintenance every month or quarter? |
Standard HVAC Maintenance replace Air Filter every 2-3 months. |
For HE Laundry Washer and Dishwasher should be cleaned every 1-2 months with cleaning tablet. |
Google estimated life of appliances to get approximate lifespan. |
Here's my estimate: my house is 20 years old. I've had to |
Oops...
I've had to replace all the appliances. Both HVAC fine, as is the roof. And we repainted everything in the last 5 years. Carpet going soon, but first 15 years had immaculate owners (not us!). |
