| Am I the only one disgusted with the exhorbitant summer airfares that Jetblue is. Flying from National airport to anywhere in the Carribean in the month of August??! It's supposed to be low season there and they are charging December holiday prices just to fly someplace like Puerto Rico. It's abusive! Other airlines seem to have inflated their summer travel prices as well. What gives? So sick of this. |
| huh? Do you want the communist government to crack down wtf? That's the rate. |
|
It's supply and demand
Side note- it's ridiculously hot there in August! |
| August. People are looking to take summer vacations. There is lots of demand. Therefore, prices go up. Summer travel is always expensive because there is so much demand. Just like high prices around Thanksgiving and December holidays. |
| Then fly a different airline. It's not like you're legally bound to JetBlue. |
| Flight costs are up in general. I'm seeing $350-$450 to fly to Boston for a few days. A few years ago it would have been $150-$200 round trip. |
| I'm seeing tremendously expensive flight costs for summer travel as well. And some destinations don't have a lot of flight options to get to within a reasonable timeframe for some people. Seems there is no shoulder season to travel anymore. Rethinking summer plans. |
| Summer is not the low season anywhere. |
It's called supply and demand. Abusive? Really? |
| Overcharging relative to what? It's a commercial enterprise, not a public service. Do you expect subsidized vacation travel? |
| Used to be able to score a direct flight to the Caribbean for under $400. Now a year later it's twice that. It can't be all supply and demand for the month of August. |
| It's hurricane season in August. Why would anyone want to go there anyway? Fares should be cheap then. |
| Take southwest |
|
We used to have more airlines. More competition.
Thanks, Congress. |

If they are overcharging, then it should be easy to find tickets on another airline for a lower fare.
What's that? They're all high-priced? Oh. So it's not overcharging, it's just high-priced. You mean air fare to a popular vacation destination during the time when many people take vacations is high? You don't say. In related news, the sun rose in the east yesterday. |
