Yes, and we’re lucky it isn’t more.

And anyway, the effects of the end of Roe shouldn’t be measured in deaths. There have been consequence just as devastating. If you don’t know this either you haven’t been paying or you don’t care.

You misunderstood. I care very deeply. My fear is that many more women have died. My fear is that something is being missed. My fear is that Americans don’t understand the deep tragedy that Dobbs has already caused.

NP, thank you for clarifying. I too think there could be more. One woman is too many. I'm furiously channeling my energy into phone banking and canvassing.

I'm sure there were many more cases that were axed and didn't make it as far as this one.

It takes time to research these. Records and info lag deaths by a year or two. This woman died in 2022, and the investigation into her death just concluded.
Unfortunately, it is likely that more will come to light.

Just like Covid, there are many more that occurred, but were not classified as a death based on Dobbs. They were classified as other types of deaths and were not counted as having been based on the Dobbs decision.

And whose families probably don’t want the associated heat and danger from right wing terrorists.

I'm pro-abortion rights by the way but this case sounds more like medical malpractice. Why would the doctors delay a D&C if the fetus was already dead and only some tissue remained especially when the mother was clearly septic. It is not illegal under GA law.

It is, actually illegal under Georgia law. Welcome to the world of death and destruction the forced birthers - you, probably, despite your “I’m pro-abortion rights” given that you cite two right wingers - wanted.

“But because D&Cs can be used to perform abortions, physicians operating can be slow to provide them even for miscarriages and other emergency situations. […] Not until 2 p.m. the day after Thruman entered the hospital was she brought for surgery. She died in the operating room.” https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/09/a-georgia-woman-has-died-after-an-abortion-ban-delayed-lifesaving-care/

The woman was so sick that not only was she soaking through a pad every hour, she was also vomiting blood. I sure hope you don’t think you have a gotcha there with your “she already had a prescription abortion!” Sometimes that doesn’t work and a D&C is the next step. But here it was a next step that doctors are not allowed by controlling misogynists to offer until a woman is sufficiently close to death. She was too close to death and she was pushed over by forced birthers who hate women and don’t care what happens to women; it’s all a just punishment in forced birthers’ eyes if one dirty slut is forced to keep a pregnancy as punishment, right?

No. The government has no role in medical decisions and random people on the internet don’t have the authority or right to shout “medical malpractice.” This was a preventable death.

Actually I am pro-abortion rights you idiot despite your hysterical post and accusing me of being a forced birther. I'm in the medical field which is why I searched more about the case because it didn't make sense and the tweet popped up. I was questioning why the D&C was delayed when the patient was clearly septic. At our hospital it is considered an emergency which is why they would call a Code Sepsis because delaying treatment can result in death, loss of limbs etc.

This case also demonstrates the potential dangers of the abortion pill itself which is often prescribed without any advice direct from a physician regarding the potential risks to the woman including sepsis and hemorrhage. I worry women may delay seeking medical treatment if something goes wrong. Sadly women have died after an abortion. In 2020 for example six women died from complications due to legal induced abortion.

I agree that government needs to stay out of women's bodies. Women have the right to make educated decisions, weigh options and have access to the best and safest care possible when it comes to their health. Is my stance clear enough for you or do you have any more hysterical comments for me?

Then if I were you, I would probably stop looking to forced birther/right wing propaganda sources and ask some of the doctors with whom you work. If I were you, I would start reading something more like Rewire Newsgroup on Threads for further information about why and how forced birther policies are killing women: https://www.threads.net/@rewirenewsgroup?hl=en

Because clearly you work in a free state where women’s health is still treated as it has been for the last few years. Of course the doctors where you work as a CNA are allowed to use the full palette of medical tools; doctors in forced birther states are not, under fear of losing their license or being charged with murder.
