You're in your early 40's. You're now a SAHM, but you had a good career and didn't marry until your mid-30's. You met your husband when you lived in the same apartment building in Clarendon. You're beginning to rethink being a SAHM - both because you miss the stimulation of work and the extra money. You live in Arlington, but you wish you could afford to live in DC and send your kids to private school. Your parents have a house on the Cape and you and the kids spend a lot of time up there during the summer. |

I bet the majority are on the up and up. |
African American family. You run a tight ship and your children say " yes, maam" and "yes, sir" to all adults. Is this the military influence? Either one of you is active duty, or one of your parents, a dad, probably was military. Your house is spotless. You both work full time and love nothing more than decompressing with the kids to relax. Teetotalers. Shaylon is a combination of Mom's name, Shayla and Dad's name, Alonzo. People think that Shaylon is a girls' name, so you emphasize the Lon part of the name. Roland is named for his grandfather. Kyra, well, you just like the name and it suits her perfectly. Kyra was your surprise baby of sorts and she threw you for a loop in many ways; financially, professionally and emotionally. She is one little ball of energy and does everything her big brothers do. There's quite a gap between the boys and Kyra. The boys share an immaculate room with bunk beds. They are sweet and loving to Kyra and treat her like a princess, even though she's a real firecracker and tough as nails. You tend to keep to yourselves and can be wary of negative influences. Boys hang with church friends, but the friends live far away from your neighborhood. You drive a distance to a multicultural Bible Church. |
