You women need to spruce up and at least try to look feminine and to dress so that you don't look as though you haven't bathed in a few weeks. Yuck!

*snip*

Nurse-in feminazis, you are one physically repulsive group of poor excuses for women. Women are supposed to be pretty. Some of them are so ugly they were scary.

ROTFLMAO.

+2

I suppose the above is meant to be insulting but as I have no idea what it means, you haven't succeeded. Probably would laugh if I did. There is a reason why the cosmetic/makeup is a billion dollar industry. FYI, taking advantage of the miracle of modern makeup, dressing well (as opposed to just throwing on clothes), generally being as attractive as possible, even though nature hasn't been generous, is a good thing. Studies have shown that being attractive and dressing well doesn't turn people off.

hmmm... and if women can't nurse in museums, then i guess they shouldn't nurse at the zoo, at a park, on a plane, on a bench on the street or anywhere in public. you sound really dumb.

This is the problem that you are so in our faces with your beliefs and you refuse to allow the rest of us to have our opinion. As has also been pointed out over and over and over on this thread, no one is against breastfeeding but we are asking you to use discretion. I have a 10-yr old son and he doesn't need to see your breast up close and personal. You want respect so why aren't you willing to give the respect you scream about?

I'm sure Jesus was breastfed. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't done in the immodest fashion that some of you seem to think is okay. And don't show me any artwork drawn by perverts. There are perverts today and there have been perverts since the beginning of time.

You do realize that the definition of "modesty" that you are referring to is to cover oneself to prevent sexual suggestion. Do you honestly believe that breastfeeding is sexual?

Actually I am referring to modesty that has to do with both conduct and overall attitude. Modesty is not just about your outward appearance, though that has a lot to do with it. Furthermore, like it or not breasts have two purposes for many people. I guess you have never read Song of Solomon. It's really not a hard concept to understand that some body parts serve more than one function. Guess what, a vagina can be sexual, and it can be functional too.

So if you are going to use the Bible then don't pick and choose. "Oh Jesus was breastfeed so I can show my breasts in public". NO. If you are claiming to be a Christian lady, have some modesty and discretion in your conduct. Do not behave as the heathens do.

I'm not the PP who talked about Jesus. I'm not a Christian. I'm an atheist who has read the bible. Please look up the definitions of "modesty". I find a lot of the laws of the bible to be morally objectionable. We could add public nursing to that list if you care to find me a citation.

Breastfeeding is not sexual but breasts are sexual. Find me a man, straignt or gay, who doesn't think of breasts in a sexual way. If breasts were not sexual why do so many women have breast augmentation? Because men love them and the bigger the better.

Breasts are not sexual when they are feeding a baby.

exactly.

In many countries breasts aren't seen as sexual objects in the way they are here -- they're seen as objects for feeding the babies.

I'd bet pretty good money that one would have seen far more breast in Jesus' time when all children were breastfed than we do now, on the contrary to what the pp stated.

This is 2011 not Jesus' time. I would bet that Mary did not nurse him in front of the shepherds or Wisemen even with a cover.

You're finally getting the idea. If I were sitting beside you I would ask you to cover up and if I were sitting on a park bench and you sat down to nurse, I would ask you to move because I don't want anyone to think I am with you. If you refused then I would throw breadcrumbs all over so flocks pidgeons would swoop down and poop on your uncovered breast.

I think 99 percent of men would disagree. Good lord, my DH found it a turn on and so does your DH and all the rest. Not sexual. Ha, ha, ha, ha!

Nursing moms, I think some of this anger will dissipate only when the most judgmental of you stop judging formula feeding moms. The number of formula feeding moms I know that have been approached in public (or at least glared at) with respect to what they're feeding their babies is shocking. Unfortunately, those nasty people give you all a bad name. So don't expect any more acceptance of your right to feed your baby the way you want, unless those judgmental, vocal idiots keep their mouth shut. Unfair to the nursing moms that really don't care about how others feed their kids, but that's the way it is.

Absolutely correct but zealots have no tolerance or respect for any belief but their own.

I don't even know why the rational women on this thread would even dignify the anti-NIP posters with any response at all. It's obvious they are nuts and a few of them are just arguing for the sake of argument. The fact that a few bible thumpers and haters aren't going to get it anytime soon doesn't mean that the nurse-in wasn't an important and timely event. I even wondered myself if some of the vitriol was due to a confusion between the breast is best faction and the right to NIP public faction, even though The Wife clearly stated in one of her responses that she respected whatever decision a mother made in terms of BF or formula. However, I think that one half didn't get that and the other half who bitch and moan about being discreet and covering up are once again, just nuts. Anyway, a big shout out to the nurse-in moms who peacefully and respectfully stood up for their rights. Let the haters hate-after all, when someone makes a comment about how unattractive the nurse-in moms appeared, they really aren't worth your time or trouble.
