Why did they shun this event? I would have expected a million MAGA on the Mall for this.

What happened?

I wondered the same. Maybe they all had flashbacks to inauguration and were afraid they would be put up in an arena while billionaires got all the seats? Or they can no longer afford to travel? Or they don’t have time to travel because they have to do all the work their immigrant employees used to do?

TBH, I think watching tanks and soldiers pass by for however long it was makes for a very boring parade. I watched part of it online where they were doing the history lesson, and I think that would go in one ear and out the other--and I'm someone who loves reading history.

Yes they had the helicopters that prop washed peaceful protesters in the Battle of DC. Too bad the US marines were not invited. They could have reacted arrested US civilians in the battle of LA!

I would watch it if Elon paid me $100,000,000 certified check.
OK, so I'm for sale!

3 HOURS? Wow. I thought an hour of just watching tanks and soldiers marching would be boring that that's nuts. Did they at least have any fancy drum and bugle or rifle displays?

Don't need a parade for that, though. Just put them in museums.

Exactly. And it’s free!

A big FU to Trump.

Exactly.

An military boarding school or ROTC has clean lines and troops marching in step. This was willful and glorious.

+1

Welcome to the resistance, Army.

Decided to watch bits of it online. Besides the use of sponsors, the announcer's game show host diction is just weird.

So the songs performed by Warren Zeiders were about a "poison" romance and waiting for the electric chair?

I mean, who picked the music yesterday?

At the No Kings rally I was at yesterday (part of the organizers) we had (not in order)
-60s music before the official start, including Pete Seeger Guantanamera (song always makes me want to cry)
-one native american drum group also singing chants, and a solo native american singing indigenous song (in native language)
-a chicago blues-y song performed by an itinerant 60 year old woman protester about justice and freedom
-national anthem soloist
plus we have a trumpet and drums group who do a variety of songs during events

(local PD told leadership at the end they were impressed with the professionalism and level of organization--and no, no George Soros checks, one of the our Indivisible chapter founders is a local VA physician))

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but I'm glad it didn't rain. Initially, I wanted a washout; however, Trump would have used the weather as an excuse for low turnout. I'm pleased the weather held up, highlighting how deeply he is disliked, even on a clear day.

+1 How many of those Hispanic people in the military "parade" have illegal immigrant family members, I wonder.
