January 2016 as well. |

Sometime midway through the day tomorrow. |
No help needed. Where I grew up the snow projected for Sunday/Monday would be considered a dusting. Would be going to school on time. Like it or not America has gone soft and woke culture is partially responsible for that softness. |
I’m from New York and I like to make fun of D.C snow drivers as much as the next northerner. But that lack of snow experience did actually kill kids a few years back. So no I don’t think this is about wokeness I think this is about low risk tolerance with the lives of students and the liability it represents. |
My family lived here in the 1970’s and my Dad, who grew up in Chicago, always laughs at how the area responded to snow then. People left his office as soon as snow was predicted and the entire area shut down. That is really no different then what happens today. This area does not have the snow plows to clear the roads in a timely fashion. The backroads take forever to get to. People come from parts of the country and world that have never driven in snow before. Any snowfall is enough to shut things down. I would guess it has gotten worse because of lawsuits and because parents and Teachers complain about the 13 snow days that we barely get to use even though they are not real snow days. This is not new to this area. If you want real fun, watch any Southern state, well more Southern then Virginia, when they even get a dusting of snow. Mass panic and pandemonium ensues. |
Are you always this dumb? It's the attitude. |
Not FCPS, then. Even 40ish years ago (when I was a kid), an inch or two of snow almost always meant schools were closed. |
Maybe you need to move back there. Do us all a favor. Your “woke culture” nonsense is so boring and makes you sound unintelligent. |
NWS is now apparently calling for 8-12 inches. |
Actually, it’s hilarious pp thinks we are going back Wednesday. |

I grew up in a place like that but they had infrastructure to deal with it, because it was common to have snow there. Here not so much. Some years we barely see a flake. Add in other factors including so many who have never driven in snow, the amount of traffic here, and all the ice we get here … can’t call this place soft for those reasons. Plus NO ONE can drive safely on ice. Back home we had more snow than ice. At least you can drive on snow. |
More entertaining here, so many crazies. Nothing more fun to watch than the coastal elites and their foolish ideas. |
Monday cancellation was predictable. Any thoughts about Tuesday? |
